So What Happens Now that Picnik is Shutting Down?

February 27th, 2012
Hello all,

Many times I use Picnik as my editing program. I 've learned they are shutting down in April. Does anyone know if there are any plans to bring another editing program in to work with 365 photos?

Thanks! Linda

@wndswptlady not sure but i use the free download photoscape and really enjoy it! (although, i am a newbie... so not sure how it compares) http://www.photoscape.org/ps/main/index.php

@wndswptlady I too use photoscape for most things, not a lot of filters though, or selective colouring.
Picnik still exists in a way in Google+, selective colouring, the filters, its all there (except touch up) But you do have to join Google+. Which I have to say is awesome, like facebook, picnik and skype all rolled into one. Only problem is no one I know is on it.
ipiccy is also ok, similar to picnik, but a bit temperamental.

I use photoscape, and love it.
I also use photofiltre which to me is more like an edit program, lots of tools like P/S

If you have a Google+ account you can upload your photos and use the Picnik tools there...I'm sure that Picnik will add more effects to Google...
But I'm going to miss it. :(

ipiccy.com has some pretty good tools in it... not as many as Picnik, but it's not bad. Also Picasa is a free download. If you have a PC you can get photofiltre, which my sister uses and looks like it is pretty cool.

I have been using pixlr express which I recommend you have a look at.

@marilyn you didn't catch my post that said someone says they have a version for MAC too?
February 27th, 2012
GIMP. It is free and very powerful. It takes a little time to become familiar with it, but that is time well spent.

Are you referencing to the editing ability once you've uploaded to 365? I assume "edit with picnik" will be gone, so it's really a question for Ross @scrivna

Hey, Picnik will be replaced with an alternative supplier closer to the time, there are many out there and I'm working out which one will be the best fit for us, so don't panic, the edit button will still be there.

@grammyn I did catch that and went hunting and could not find it... According to Google there are links that have the words "photofiltre for Mac" in them, but none of them actually provide a photofiltre for Mac. They just link you to similar editing software.

I'll try to remember who it was said they had it.

@nikkers Are you the one who said in an earlier discussion (which I in the mean time have forgotten) there was a version of photfiltre for mac?
