I would like to start a thread which asks people to post features that they'd like to see done to the website... Me personally, I'd like to see a notification if my picture ends up on the popular page or top 20 page. Also, maybe an automatic tag could be added to the photo such as: username-popular or username-top20 so that I can find these pictures easier down the road. What would you like Ross @scrivna to add to the website?
Some way to tell when someone posting your picture on a discussion. I hasn't happened to me so maybe there is a way and I just haven't experienced it. Private Messaging would be awesome too.
Recommend a great new user button or section, which I may as well do here, this is from his second album... http://365project.org/jdweston/travel/2012-03-05
you guys are missing out on some great images!!
Yes, I agree, notification of PP or Top 20 would be great but my main request would be a messaging facility, sometimes you want to pass on information or request information that you don't want in the public domain.
@christabug If people use the @ tag, you will get a notification, like you should have gotten for this. @lorraineb there is a great new photographers page, look under browse
@grecican We've already been through this... GO TO FACEBOOK.
No, seriously. Let's be friends.
I think...
E-mail notifications for discussion mentions.
E-mail notifications for Top 20 and Pop Page.
A combination Following/Follower page, so you can quickly tell if you're following someone who is following you, or vice versa.
On the same page, something to identify when the user last posted, so you can determine whether or not they're still active.
A way to see a custom picture feed of only people who commented or faved your photos in the last 24 or 48 hours.
A "shut the fuck up" button.
Revised e-mail notifications that tie the username to the handle, and something similar to everywhere else on the site. Sometimes, you don't recognize one or the other, and having them side by side is much easier. Especially if you're an idiot, like me.
Revised "mass responses." I hate it when I click reply to someone at the top of the list, and it takes me all the way to the reply field at the bottom. The hell? Not sure how to fix this, but whatev'.
Make it so that @tagging someone automatically makes the tag a link to their album or profile. I hate having to type in addresses manually. Srsly.
A way to block all cat pictures from appearing on your feed. Gotcha!
Don't get all pissy and artsy fartsy because I am suggesting this, but a NSFW tag that replaces the thumbnail on the feed with a NSFW thumbnail image. I'm not for censorship, but I check the site often at work, and the last thing I need is my boss walking by when there are some big ol' titties on my computer screen, or worse, Jason Barnette's semi-erect penis floppin' and jaloppin' all over my browser window as I struggle to close it and erase it from my memory. The hell... If the picture was still on his album, I'd plug it here right now, just so you all know exactly what I'm talking about.
Lastly, standardize the e-mail subjects! Yeesh. As a gmail user (maybe other people agree here), I like getting one thread that is titled:
Comment on your Photo: Socks is sooo Pretty!
... and they all get nicely grouped together.
Then, I get like a million individual e-mails for faves:
Suzy Two-Shoes added your Photo as a Fave: Stupid Cat Picture
Cujo added your Photo as a Fave: Dead Cat
Megaman added your Photo as a Fave: Catman
You get my point. Would be a lot better if the subject like was always the same, like:
Someone added your Photo as a Fave: Another Stupid Cat Picture
I vote for @gurry 's STFU button. I would also dig an option that lets you ignore threads - as in, ignore them so you don't see them anymore. This will come in handy when the holidays come back around and all of the fracking bokeh threads pop back up.
@gurry it is so stuck in there. Maybe we should have photos of cute fuzzy puppies to cure my eyes. I wish they gave us more warning for an eye alarm system.
@gurry - Yes to a 'shut the fuck up' button! @pwallis - Yes to a reinstatement of user search!
Also notification of PP or top 20 placement (in Notifications, not email alert!) not that I've ever been in either (as far as I know - lol)
@gurry Both, maybe. I'm not sure. Let me get back to you after a couple of drinks. Actually, there's the start of your tutorial.
a) Have a couple of drinks. Or more.
b) Try to take photos of your Giftmas tree. Because you are drunk now, they will be out of focus.
c) You can has bokeh!
@gurry Lest you forget, some people thought that the infamous image you mention was worthy of praise and gushed about it and about the overwrought, cringe-worthy and manipulative story that went with it.
I would love to click on a user and see their top 10 photos - selected by the monkeys and/or by the user themselves. It would give a quick overview of their work.
I wouldn't mind a private messaging feature. Just would make some stuff easier, and I don't necessarily want to add everyone to my FB (then they'll realize how much of a photo snob I am, LOL). Sometimes you want to have more of an in depth discussion of something off of the comments and threads.
But yeah, an ignore feature for discussions would be awesome, because I don't care what point and shoot someone wants, I don't care if they want to be on the popular page, and I don't care that they discovered bokeh.
Lots of stuff came to mind and sounded funny in my head but in no way worked out in type......So I'm going to stick to 2 points: 1. YES to everything said before suggestions and otherwise 2. Thank god for dark monitors and an innate sense of self preservation.
@grammyn unfortunately, i'm totally guilty of following a number of folks who i'm super bad with keeping up with... either our time zones are ain't linking up so their pics get lost in the crowd or i'm just to blame altogether. sucks... something i must improve on!! :-(
@gurry
Am I really the only one who doesn't know what NSFW means? I get that is along the lines of beware before you look....
See, if we had private messaging, I could have asked you about that without everyone thinking I'm an idiot!
@grammyn I follow a lot of people, but don't post comments... I guess it's kind of odd someone would just delete me because I'm not posting meaningless comments on their work. I'd rather have no comment than a bunch of "Nice" every day. I guess that's just me...
@hmgphotos You are one of my favorite people to follow and be followed by. :) I don't gotta say a lot to you, you don't gotta say a lot to me, but when we have something to say, we say it. Easy breezy.
If someone could arrange for me to get a "Shut the fuck up!" to use in real life -- I'll FAV every photo you post here for life (even the shitty ones).

That's all I got.
Oh, and private messaging. Sure. Why not?
@gurry thanks for bringing up the floppin and jaloppin image that I have been trying to get unburnt from my retinas through a long horrible process.
@gurry
@beautifulthing BUT BOKEH SO PRETTY
@grecican arts and farts and crafts!
@pwallis - Yes to a reinstatement of user search!

Thank you. I'll be here all week.
@gareauk1 You are lucky to have missed it.
@brumbe I had almost succeeded but now I think I will need a retina transplant.
And a 'Who's online?' feature, maybe with an opt-out option.

Oh thank you Kelly....I would have NEVER worked that out!!!
