Ace members stats

March 8th, 2012
@scrivna - it is really kewl that we have the stats for ace members and that we have the top rated photos, but I would like to make a book with my top viewed photos for last year, but with out doings something invasive, like having to scan every page that I have and scrap the number of views from the page, is there an easier way of doing that?

A top forty views would be nice.

And a list of the photos that made it to the PP! That would be a totally awesome addition to the stats!

maybe a list of PP/Top 20 photos, combine them with a little t20 or pp by each to differentiate......and green bubbles for everyone! Red doesn't seem to fit, IMO

@aspada @shadesofgrey yes!!! That would be great!

Top rated photos with lots of fav's don't necessarily make it to the pop page. i'm not complaining or trying to change that fact, i'm just saying that a notification or list of pop page pics wouldn't necessarily provide what you are looking for. I've had quite a few pics in the past few weeks with between 5 and 12 fav's each and not one of them made the pop page. Again, that doesn't concern me in the least, so don't misunderstand why I'm saying that --- just pointing out that a better way to get a top 40 book would be to use Blurb or whatever and just drag and drop your chosen top pics from your hard drive [or where ever you save them] into your book, then buy the book. It's quite inexpensive in the big scheme of things. I made a book for my granddaughter with 80 pages and it cost about $60 with fancy paper, shipping to Canada, etc included. It could have been much less expensive, depending on the size and options. Good luck with your book, how ever you do it. It's a great idea.

@sunnygreenwood I do use Blurb, but what 20-80 pages of pictures to build, especially if I want the 365 pictures? I know which ones I like and have published, many which do not show up here, but do others see in my photos and which are popular?

The short answer is no. From what I've noticed with my pics over the 11 months or so that I've been here, there are three ways of identifying the pics that were "pleasing" for lack of a better word.

1. The ace stats will tell you the top ten, based on I'm not sure what.
2. The pop page shows popular pics, based on a logarithm and some monkey business
3. The day to day info on each pic with fav's and comments stats, etc. which you see by looking at each pic individually. I've had lots of pics with high numbers here but not appearing in 1 and 2.

Others cannot see your top 10 stats. They can see your name on pop page pics if they hover over the pic or actually open it. They can also see stats for each individual pic if they open it.

If I were picking a top 40 for myself, I'd use some combination of these 3, mostly the third, with a liberal dose of what I liked the best. The stats are greatly influenced by a number of factors: how much commenting you've done on other people's pics in the day or two before you post any given pic, the number of ACTIVE followers you have, what else is happening in the world that day to influence whether or not people have time to look at your pic or perhaps there are a few really popular pics at the same time and they prefer those in the moment so don't fav yours.

@aspada show off! lol

I think it would be great to be notified about being on the PP. I was out today, but happened to pop into the library and saw my pic on the PP while I was there. By the time I got home, it was no longer on the PP. If I hadn't happened to go on the library PC, I would never have known the pic made it. As far as I know, it was my first time on there....

hey, ok, people are making a good case for knowing if you photo was on the PP now, i may add it in to the stats.

@byrdlip as for getting the top X photos out, email me ross@365project.org, and i will write a little script to pull them out for you.

@Scrivna Since people are putting in requests, I would like to share my first request. I can understand why you may not want to add it but a "Reply All" button would be a HUGE help! I don't want to reply all all the time but there are some days where it would be so much easier than keep having to scroll back and forth to make sure I got everyone. If you have a simpler suggestion, I am all ears! =D

How about top 10 photos with the most FAVs. I have a photo that has the second highest # of FAVs of all the photos I have posted and yet it is not in my Top 10. There are photos that have very few FAVS / views / comments and are in my Top 10.
A LIKE Button would be so wonderful too!
Thanks Ross! You do a great job! :-)

Oh also - an end of the year Top - saaaay - 50 or something would be pretty cool!
March 9th, 2012
@Scrivna Good move Ross! Will it include the past or only the future PP appearances?
March 9th, 2012
@jenirainbow If you see it and then don't. Be sure to hit shuffle multiple times and you may see it again. I have done that and after 4-5 shuffles its back.

@Scrivna - I've got one too - how about a page listing the 365ers who've made it to the end of 365. Sort of a wall of honor to highlight the accomplishment. I thought I read some where that a very low percentage of us make it thru to the end. Would be nice especially for those who accomplish the wonderful achievement in relative obscurity.

@michaelelliott Good idea Michael! The roll of honor ;)

@jannkc Thanks, Jann, I did actually hit shuffle several times without finding it, but its back there now, having had a few more favs, so who knows? Whatever, I was just thrilled to get my first PP and glad I didn't miss it! :-)

@scrivna - Thanks Ross.

What a disconnect between the top ten views and the top ten rated photos.

Now to fine the originals and produce the book.
