@mittens i did notice and wondered momentarily but the PP has always been mysterious so I chalked it up to that. @gurry HAHAHAHA (must STILL be the acid)
I am sure those "older" pictures by @simplysnapped are showing up again because she purged her 365 folder and moved the ones she liked the most up into this month; no big deal.
Of more concern to me is that the PP should be stuffed full with MY pictures; that needs to be fixed pronto! :)
@tamsg4@grizzlysghost Indeed!! The other day, I took this picture of my banged up Chucks whilst sitting on the stairs at work. It is obviously a great and important work, full of existential commentary on society's ills, but sadly it not only did NOT make the Top 20, it didn't make the PP either! Gah!
@beautifulthing That... is... brilliant Shelly. I'm speechless. The way the bows are tied; representing the inseparable bond between right and wrong while juxtaposed against the white laces binding the black sneakers, indicating the continuing struggle of the minority against white oppression. Brilliant! Not only that, it's a great picture of shoes...
@beautifulthing@grizzlysghost Maybe...an inspiring quote to encompass all of that would push it right over the edge! Or, a flying dog in the background always helps.
@grizzlysghost I didn't know you could move a whole page into a new folder. That is interesting. The replies on the page are dated when the pictures were first taken.
Anyway, I didn't mean to make a big deal out of it. Just wanted to make sure nothing was wrong.
@simplysnapped If you see this, sorry if it all seems confusing. I'm confused. LOL Just hoping no one is hacking into your album.
@mittens She didn't move the page into a new folder. She deleted the ones (and she had hundreds) and kept the ones she liked. You can "Edit" your photo and change the date to where you want it to appear in a calendar. I've done it countless of times when filling missed days. Give it a try with one of yours, move it to 1 April by changing the dates. All of your comments and such stay with the picture, it just moves to the new day in your calendar.
That being said... I guess it could be considered an exploitable glitch, but I think the PP is magic anyway so I definitely don't worry about it much :)
@bmnorthernlight Haha, nope, it sure isn't... yet! If it weren't for that damned flower in there blocking a perfectly good crown I might have had a chance!
@Scrivna Ross, it looks like what happens is a person can take a popular photo from the past and change the date to the present. It is then back in the cue for the PP. Someone may have to view, comment, or "Fave" the picture before the monkeys take notice. I would say the monkeys give priority to the 365 calendar date over posting date or Exif date. Just a guess though... :)
People will still need to fav/comment it for it to get on the popular page, and if people have seen it before, surely they are A) less likely to comment on it B) if they are still commenting / fav'ing it, then doesn't it desserve to be on the PP?
@Scrivna@grizzlysghost It is becoming more clearer to me now. I have accidently put a pic up on the wrong date and then went into edit to correct it but hadn't thought of what you explained Aaron about taking a photo say from last year or a couple of years ago and reposting it today. Fascinating. Thank you for the explanations. I guess it makes sense what you said, too, Ross.
@Scrivna I was thinking of what you said Ross and the only thing that might not be fair would be if the pic was on the pp last year and already has say 20 favs and if the date is changed to today, wouldn't the pic already have last years favs on it so if they get 5 more favs this year it would add to the 20 and instead of having 5 favs, they would have 25 favs while others are starting at 0. Does that make any sense? Anyway, I'll get off my soapbox now. LOL
@mittens no, that wouldn't work because it has to be uploaded to the site within the last 2-3 days, moving a photo that you uploaded previously wont work
@Scrivna Now I am confused. I thought Aaron @grizzlysghost said above you could take an old picture That was posted and just change the date to within the last three days and it would come up again.
Ross, @simplysnapped posted her lighting photo on March 11 but it was originally posted on Feb. 21, 2012 as there are comments on Feb. 21.
So if she got favs on Feb. 21 and some days after and is now getting more favs since it was reposted on March 11, would the favs from both times be added together? Does this make better sense?
@mittens Yes I posted my pictures in a previous album an when I moved the to my new ablum and deleted my old pictures they appeared on the popular page again, I did not upload them twice I just moved them to a new album. I would have removed the pictures completely like the rest but they are both the best pictures I have ever taken (so far) lol.... I am sorry if this has upset people! I had originally started deleting my images to give up my project, I felt blessed when I noticed they had made the popular page again and took it as a sign that the magic monkey's didn't want me to give up........ I am very sorry if it has upset you mittens I had no intention of causing any trouble.
@simplysnapped That's okay, Tracy, I'm not upset. It was just confusing to me and at first I thought maybe somebody was hacking into your album or into the site somehow and just wanted to let people to know. It's still kind of confusing, but it's not a problem. They are beautiful pictures.
@simplysnapped I'm pretty sure you don't have to delete each individual picture to give up your project. Egads, that would take forever. I think if you just delete the account, the pictures go with it. http://365project.org/account/delete
@mittens i apologise, you are correct, it would include photos uploaded prior, i have just changed it so that it only picks photos uploaded in the date range and set to the date in the date range (2-3 days)
@mittens@Scrivna This all seems very complex. When I am using film, sometimes developing and digitizing can take up to 2 weeks. Depending on how it is digitised, if it is colour reversal film that is digitised at lab onto CD it will show exif date when that occurred. If it is color negative film that I digitise at home with scanner it often gives weird dates and when uploaded onto 365 sometimes shows 2008 which i think are the earliest album dates.
Sometimes I have posted film images on the same day these were taken but the exif date is not accurately reflected. Does this mean such photos cannot be included on popular page or Top 20 even if #fav numbers are significant?
Similar if two photos are taken and a composite made in a processing program which elides date does this mean it cannot feature in weekly theme, popular page, etc even if in correct time frame?
Similarly, with changes described in thread above does it mean that a purely digital photo that is delayed in being posted for a week, but receives #favs at significant enough level to be normally on pp or Top 20 would not be included?
@peterdegraaff
Peter, sorry I can't help you much. I don't know the answers to most of your questions.
This was about a couple of photos that had been already posted on 365 and the original page was reposted again to a current date with all its past data on it. It really had nothing to do with the date the pictures were taken. That didn't matter. I hope I'm not confusing you more.
@tamsg4 awesome idea!!!!!!!! it's funny... i take my pics for myself, I am not focused on the page, but when I take a pic I am really proud of, and it doesn't make it, and I look on the page and see pics that are good, but IMO, not as good as some of mine..... and it's the SAME ppl making the page over and over again.... well, it's just 7th grade all over again....
screw the popular page :P
@peterdegraaff : No worries there. If I understand it correctly a picture needs to have been uploaded in the last 2-3 days to a calender date in the last 2-3 days to be eligible for the pp and then for the top twenty. The exif date (if there is one) doesn't matter and it doesn't even matter if there is an exif date at all. The only problem you get without exif dates is in the weekly themes and other competitions. I've had older photos on the pp before (that means photos taken a while ago but uploaded now). Looking forward to seeing your next shot on the pp then ;)!
@gurry HAHAHAHA (must STILL be the acid)
Of more concern to me is that the PP should be stuffed full with MY pictures; that needs to be fixed pronto! :)
Yeah, no. It's just you.
Idea stolen from @beautifulthing and @tamsg4 , because that's how I roll.
No? Still just me?? Perhaps a challenge...I WIN!!!
#winning

lol I was thinking the same thing hahaha xD
@Scrivna Thanks Ross!
@mittens Thanks for bringing this up!
