Photo you took AGES to get....

April 5th, 2012
What picture did it take you AGES to finally capture?

I don't always have the opportunity to spend a long time trying to get a particular shot/subject... or even trying the same subject on different days.

However for this shot, I had several attempts every single day at breakfast for 10 days in a row before FINALLY capturing this bird on the last day of our holiday.

He was such a tiny little thing & kept flitting between the table / chair / railing at high speed so it was almost impossible to get a sharp photo..or one with the whole bird still in the frame (nevermind not scaring him off by pointing a big camera at him!).

I am so proud of this shot - mostly because of the amount of effort that went into actually getting it!

Probably this one:D

bursting water balloon... I will try again

the neighbour opposite through her window, took ages to get that one.... ;-)

Took me about 2 weeks to get this one. I went up several times to try to take it but got thwarted by clouds, finally got a night without clouds and nailed it:

As far as setting up and takes, this one definitely took more time than most of mine.

I'm still working on a lady cardinal shot - have been chasing them for months. I saw one out on my tomato plants yesterday and I didn't have my camera in my hand. Argh! :)

Set up took a long time. I had to bake a cake, I then I had to cool it, frost it, put candles in (extra long of couse). Actually I am not the patient photographer so I have no real extensive time of trying to capture a shot.

Since, I have tried again... And I will again! :)

I have many photos of blurred Willy Wagtails, finally got one standing still. The are very quick, flighty little birds!!

I had to wait AGES for all the tourists to get out of the way for this shot!! In Sukhothai in Thailand

I didn't really take ages taking this picture, but I took so so so so so long editing it. I wanted to emphasize the darkness of the dark stones and, obviously, the light on the lighter stones. I tried so many different techniques. I hope it worked.

It took me ages to catch my Great Dane Lucy Locket doing this 5 years in fact for me to get the perfect leap. lol
April 5th, 2012
I am not a patient photographer at all! I just look for something interesting and shoot it, rather than going out and trying for something in particular. That could be why I have a whole lot of boring shots in my project, LOL. Anyway, the only one I actually worked at was this self portrait... and it was much more time consuming than I expected (and probably why you don't see any more selfies in my project, so far! I get exhausted just thinking about doing another one!)

this one took me days. and hundreds of photos and lighting trial and errors. as well as figuring out if head tossing or a fan looked better. but I got it.

April 5th, 2012
Probably this one, I kept trying to get a decent snow shot WHILE it was snowing, and finally got one I was happy with:)

We live near an air force base. ~ one of the first things we noticed was the planes! They land, what feels like, on top of you. ~ Finally after two years, I was in the right place at the right time, with the right lens and lighting and caught this shot!

6 eggs.......going to try it again this year and hopefully get better focus.

I knew I wanted this shot but I always got distracted with something when the sun was in the right spot. I tried it a few times on different days but just wasnt really happy. I would love another stab at it but I'll have to wait until next year, darn rotation of the earth and seasons. ;)

I've been trying to take a decent moon shot for years, off and on. Finally got one I like the other evening.

Met my stubborn husband who HATES his picture being taken. It took me a year of asking on and off, and finally being like "I'm almost done with year one..."

Definitely my hardest shot. hehe

This lunar eclipse. We get lots of clouds and everytime I saw an opening I took a picture because I didn't know how many I'd be able to get. The last picture was the final before it completely clouded in. For me, this was quite an accomplishment. :-)

My first moon shot.. planned for two weeks and mapped out the location sudied, researched etc. and Voila!

Probably this one, photo taken in the dark, 3 flashes, 2 moves and 1 lego figure, Had to do it several times as lego lady kept on falling!

@limpet365 p.s lovely photo btw, you have really caught the birds expression :-)

I rarely spend a lot of time on a photo. I'm impatient and if I don't get the shot in 5 or 6 attempts then well forget about it. I have sat for hours waiting for a Golden Bowerbird, but the shot never made it to my 365 project. This shot however, was thought about for ages, and then took some time to get ready, I had to dig a hole deep enough for the effect, and then I had to get the right setting for the camera so I did not just appear as a big silhouette. I also do not have a remote, so I set up the 12s timer, placed the camera in the hole, and then posed. Took a few attempts in the end. But it finished off my first year the way I wanted.

April 5th, 2012
this one took me about 60 shots to finally get all 3 looking!
April 5th, 2012

Not perfect but I'm about 50 shots for just this one. :)

Stalked this horse for about a month. His location is on a busy street where there are no shoulder or sidewalk so I couldn't pull over to take his photo. I pass this street everyday and there were days when the sunset hits him just right and kept thinking how perfect that shot would have been. He's all alone in this patch of land and always felt bad for him because he's actually created a bald spot on the perimeter of this land where he would keeps walking around over and over all day. Then one day, there was no car around and just stopped, jumped out of my car with my camera and snapped away. He actually walked to me when he saw me which shows how lonely he must be.

I would say this one. I tried many times when ever I walked through Times Square in the rain and could never get what I wanted ... until this shot last month and after getting 500 views and 60 favs .. I'd say I got it!

April 5th, 2012
Well.. there are many pics in my albums with a history of trial and error ( and a lot of pushing the shutter, running back and forth) attached to it, but this shot I call real victory: My oldest niece, she always tries to hide for my camera (or puts on a funny face) but this time she allowed me to take a few shots (3 or 4 lol) and within that time-frame I tried to capture her as she really is by talking to her to make her relax her face ;-)
April 5th, 2012
I spent two consecutive nights watching this street dance theatre piece being performed every 20 minutes, waiting to get a spot in the front row, taking shots from all three sides and then sifting through hundreds of shots...but those guys were gorgeous and amazing, so really no hardship at all :-)

April 5th, 2012
This one! Although I still never got the shot that I really was going for. I had to stop obsessing about the beach ball shot.

April 5th, 2012

I tried this shot over a series of days never quite being happy with it and then spent about an hour one night trying to sort out the lighting and every other tiny thing about the composition which is funny when I look back now as the composition is fairly simplistic. One of the challenges was that the whole structure kept trying to roll away whenever I went anywhere near it with a camera and also the glass ball kept popping out the other end and rolling away.
April 6th, 2012
My poor knees almost did not made this :D

April 6th, 2012

(My husband has asked that I not share his face online... anymore) It took me a good 15 tries to get this one. Luckily, my daughter was more than happy to keep "posing", I don't even care that it's fuzzy, I'll work on that later.
April 6th, 2012
My hubs and I waited almost two hours on the banks of the river to get some sunset shots - until the clouds came in and we quickly realised that the shot we were imagining wasn't going to happen but I still got this one and am really pleased with it.

April 7th, 2012
This one took me three months to get!! Darn bird!
