The End (but not goodbye!)

April 29th, 2012
I can't believe I am saying this but I think I am done posting on 365project. That does not mean that I am done shooting a photo every day but I have been running into a few issues with 365 (the sickly sad looking desaturation being the final straw) that I am finding difficult to overcome. I will continue to post daily on Facebook and count the days as they go by but I think I am done fighting to post in two places every day. Thankfully most 365ers are already on Facebook! If you are not friends with me already, please look me up!

I don't want to post a long goodbye message since I am not stopping my project but I will say THANK YOU to everyone that has followed and commented and faved my photos. Your support has been AMAZING!

I also don't plan to delete my account since I would still like to pop in and take a look around periodically. If I start posting elsewhere, I will let you know but in the meantime, you can friend me on Facebook and see more of my photos at www.autumneden.com.

You will be missed at 365, though it's good to know you'll still be posting your photos on FB. I wouldn't want to miss your photos altogether-- I find your work inspiring

But fcbk butchers photographs to a greater extent then the 365 site does. Your photos always look wonderful to me! Will have to go look for you over there then...

I'm curious why you are giving up 365 for FB. There is alot of question about whether posting your photos on their site gives them the right to use them without compensating you. The following statement in their terms made me take down my FB account.

"1.For content that is covered by intellectual property rights, like photos and videos (IP content), you specifically give us the following permission, subject to your privacy and application settings: you grant us a non-exclusive, transferable, sub-licensable, royalty-free, worldwide license to use any IP content that you post on or in connection with Facebook (IP License)."

@lauriehiggins I think I remember reading somewhere that if your privacy settings are set to friends only that trumps their TOS but I am not absolutely sure on that bit gonna have to research again

@loztsoul It's really hard to understand what rights FB grabs, and I'm certainly not an expert, but I think caution is a good idea.

@lauriehiggins exactly...I believe a lot of debate had talked about how Facebook would not use your photo's as a bad PR move but I also do not trust entities such as google etc...good thing my photo's are rubbish so I can post on Facebook without fear :)

@lauriehiggins When I post to Facebook I always post a smaller file with a watermark so if someone wants to snag it from Facebook they are not going to be able to print anything nicely. I also have my privacy settings set carefully so it should not be an issue.

As for giving up 365, there are several reasons but the primary reasons are:

1) Posting here daily at times has added more stress than I need and since I am dealing with medical issues, minimizing stress is important. Plus editing to get the photos to look right is not helpful.

2) This site has changed over the last year or so. I won't go into specifics but I have noticed the change and I am not sure that I like it. There just seems to be more drama. I am not trying to create more drama - just stating the facts. =)
