Buzzing autofocus?

my Cannon 550D has started buzzing when I use autofocus. Can anyone suggest what's wrong?

Actual camera or the lens?

@lorraineb I just tried it and the buzz is gone… perhaps something was interfering with the lens and camera. I hope it doesn't come back! Thanks Lorraine :)

@sugarmuser Could just be a dirty connection on the other lens. Fingers crossed thats all : )

@sugarmuser I had an experience with dirt in the lens quite a few years ago. The focusing rings tended to stick under use. The shop wasn't very enthusiastic, but they managed to clean it, even so. Mind you, there was no motor in lenses those days... Fingers crossed for you.

Mine just started doing that too and it is definitely the lens, only with this one lens. I was wondering the same thing.

@sugarmuser If it's an IS lens, does it make the same noise if the IS is turned off? Some IS systems can make an 'interesting' noise when in use.
