Give me a stern talking to!

I so badly want to do the project, but twice now I have started and stopped. I really suck at consistant. I think the project would help me in other areas of my life, I just give up way to easily. GRRR I need a good ripping!

Keep going or I'll come around and give you a good slap. :)) hope this helps.

Next time you're in the mood, take a bunch of photos you like. Post one. Keep the rest for fillers for when you haven't the motivation.
May 15th, 2012
@tracywilliams Why put yourself under pressure? Some other members have gone over to flickr purely for the same reasons you're having, I truly believe photography should be enjoyed, not seen as a chore.

@veg66 @carmel @lorraineb Thanks everyone :) Lorraine I think it's more about finishing something I start.
May 15th, 2012
@tracywilliams So how about you start with a week of photos, then have a break, then 2 weeks and so on, build yourself up gradually rather than 1 year all in one go!
May 15th, 2012
@lorraineb That's a good idea :)

@tracywilliams : YOU CAN DO IT!!! I had a motivational crisis nearly every week this year and just posted bad photos or fillers but if you have your camera with you at all times you necessarily come upon interesting, nice, funny or pretty sights to take pictures of and that always gives me the boost to do another week, and another.

I fully understand where your coming from on this Tracy. I also have tried and given up on so many things over the years. As i love my hobby of photography i thought this would be quiet easy. i soon found out that wasn't the case. So far i have managed to take a photo for 107 consecutive days which I'm very proud of. I do this challenge for me and me only, i think it's awesome that people follow and comment on my photos (believe me they don't always deserve one). But even if i didn't get any comments i would still continue this project. Some days my head is in bits trying to think of something to photograph, but i always seem to pull something out of the bag.. Keep going and keep going for you Tracy.. I wish you luck :-)

@tracywilliams It's so hard! I am totally inconsistent, the thing which improved me was getting older! Regrets eventually build up enough to give some way of being more consistent.

So if you wait a while ...

I have ADHD so distraction is part of life big style. I use timers to keep me on track (I put a small post it on the timer to remind me what it went off for, then the post it goes in my palm 'till I've done the thing - or I get distracted again!

But it takes a ton of determination.

@boogie Thanks Mags :)

I struggled through my first year. I was surprised that I made it through one year. I have difficulty staying with projects. Posting a daily shot helped me develop self discipline, which is helping me with other areas of my life. It i still not easy for me. I sometimes have to treat taking shots for 365 like a job. Sometimes I have to tell others that I have to go to work for a while and I go out and shoot pictures. Sometimes, I take my shot for a 365 theme or challenge and then go on a photo walk where I feel free to shoot any picture I feel like. Doing 365 daily shots does take work and persistence. I wish you the best.

@daisy Thanks Kathryn ;)

@carmel I agree, find something you love and take tons of photos, then go back to photoshop etc. You can do it!

Lyn
Tracy, I think that so many of us feel this pain! On the other side of the spectrum are those of us who let it consume us TOO much and I think the end result there becomes almost identical - burn out leads you to want to give up, too. . .there has to be a balance in this somewhere for each of us. I love what Mags has to tell you @boogie. Mainly, I hope you know that when you do post, we are all enchanted with the gifts you show us! In the end, though, it has to be something that you do because YOU want to. Good luck!

@httpgeffed @lyno Thanks Colleen and Lyn ;) I appreciate all of your support and encouragement!

Don't think of not shooting consistently as a failure or stopping point. Pick up the camera when you are able and keep going. The pace is entirely yours. And when it gets tough, come back here and yell help again. Plenty of supportive folks here. :)

I agree with Lorraine @lorraineb If this is a chore then stop. You should be having fun, creating great memories of this time and recording what it is that you enjoy about life. There are times when I take a bunch of photos...especially if I have done something really fun over the weekend and then I post them during the week. Alternatively think a week ahead if you really want to keep going. Write a theme for each day of the week...Shoot from up high, what I wore today, shoot from down low, photograph a flower, take a shot of an animal, what I ate for dinner.... the list goes on. If you do that you might find you get into a routine and once you have that you will find it much easier. I struggled in the beginning...once I got my camera back from the camera hospital but I hung in there and now it is just a part of my day. Look at what others are photographing and get ideas from there too. Good luck!

Winners never quit. Quitters never win. Now, don't make me come over there and open a can of "Whoop Ass".

@lilbudhha @k1w1 thanks ;D
@cromwell Now that's what I'm talking about! LOL

I am struggling with what to say here. I don't know why. I'm not sure what you are asking. You take great photographs. Why did you come back to try again? What is different from the first time you tried doing this project? How far did you get? What made you quit? Were you bored? Are you bored now?

This project, like many things in your life, takes time. We can't just take a bunch of pictures and fill in the blanks ahead of time. We need to slow down and take it one day at a time. It is how life works. Everyday something presents itself as a unique moment in our day. Those are the moments I try to look for. I take a few pictures everyday, throughout the day. Then I choose from those. Some days I go to the very end without taking a picture and think, this is it. The day I won't get a picture. But you know what? I always find something to photograph. ALWAYS. All I need to do is open my mind to the possibilities.

The best advice I can offer is carry your camera everywhere. If you want to do this project, you need to be prepared every day for the photo opportunities that are right in front of you. Give yourself time to learn and grow into your project and you will find the commitment within yourself. You won't find it from others 'ripping' into you to do this. No matter how much encouragement you get it will always come down to you and your effort to make this what you want it to be.

I can see some one above has said the same but I will repeat it. Do what I do, take LOADS of photos choose loads you like and post one when you dont have time to take one for that day. x
