Every now and then you come across a post that you feel you have to share and today I came across just that post.
For anyone that follows my lighting photos you have to have a look at this photo...
The light quality of this photo is fantastic, however that is not the real reason for sharing this...
The real reason is that @pengo didn't use highly priced studio lighting or highly priced pro gear to create such fantastic soft and beautiful light.
What he did use was a 3rd party speedlight and a home made softbox... As I mentioned in the comments of this photo, the light quality that he has produced with his DIY softbox is comparable to my highly expensive pro equipment.
It goes to show that even on a small budget you can produce fantastic studio light.
Well done.
[edit] He has now posted a link on the original photo with instructions on how he made his softbox. - Just click on the image above to be taken to the original image and link.
I was taking pictures of people on Sunday for a website who's who and trying to convince them that 1) they needed to move into a better lit spot and 2) I needed to take more than one picture to get a reasonable final effect was, um, interesting I got something, but if they'd let me take 10 pictures and move them a bit, I'd have done better.
Yesterday's portrait was taken on the fly chatting to someone and the lighting is not great, it's what was coming in from the window
