I am not sure how many of you on here are being affected by the wild fire in Colorado, but I just wanted to take a minute to let you know that my heart is breaking for you!!
I know that nothing can be said to make it any easier or any better, but I just wanted to make a quick post & let you know that there are people all over the country that are thinking of you & sending happy thoughts to you. =)
I wanted to personally go and comment on people's photos of the fire, but I tried to search a specific tag for photos, but it tells me that is not an option right now. If you are one of these persons that are being affected by the fire, and would like to share any photos of your experience, feel free to post here.
Colorado Springs was our previous location. We moved to DC 18 months ago. This has been a long day of getting news from so many friends. Some are facing evacuation. Some have lost homes. Some are outside the burn zone, but still affected by falling ash and smoke.
It is a nearly unimaginable disaster.
Prayers for the families of Colorado Springs and the emergency workers and firemen who are there doing there best in this horrible situation.
I have two cousins in the Denver area. Hoping this tragedy will get under control soon! I'm glad you started this thread so that we can keep it in mind.
The only 365 user that I know has posted pics is @exposure4u Wendy...she has a couple of amazing Waldo shots. Hopefully your neighborhood is ok Wendy!
The Waldo fire is the one the most in the news probo due the growing out of control so quickly & being a threat to both Garden Of The Gods and the Airforce Academy, but there are actually several fires burning here across the state. The largest is one the opposite end of the Waldo one near Ft Collins which has already burned around 200 homes...it's madness here the weather has been crazy hot and windy (record breaking days in the 100's for June) and more & more fires keep breaking out mostly along the foothills of the mountains but now even on the plains as brush fires. At least the weather has cooled down a tad bit 9it's in the 90's rather than 100's for awhile I think) and hopefully they can get a lot of them more under control!
I am in Colorado tho purely a city girl & not near wildfire areas, the most I get is a view of the smoke and occassionally the smell...It is truly awful to see the images everyday nevertheless, I hope it's over sooner rather than later for sure!
My daughter owns a house in Colorado Springs, but they're currently at Fort Bliss in El Paso. I haven't been able to talk to her to find out if they've had any news from their renter. how awful!
I live in Colorado, not in Colorado Springs, but I did grow up there and it is very sad to see and here about this, plus I have family that live down there, but as far as I know they are safe right now. Where I live nothing has happened but I pray for both the firefighter and the people out there. I dont have pictures of my own of the Waldo Canyon fire, but this is one I posted yesterday: Just the front of the news website:
And this one is of the high park fire in Fort Collins:
Thank you so much for posting this and for yor comments, prayers and support. I live in the Mountain shadows area that the fire came down over the ridge and burned. Many of my friends and neighbors have been effected. I do not know the status of my home yet, but it is very heart wrenching seeing my neighborhood in flames. I have lived in this neighborhood for 10 years and we are a close community. My kids have known their friends in this area since pre-school.
Please pray we can get this fire under control soon. There are so many towns and landmarks being effected.
It has been very difficult for me to take any photos since yesterday. I did get a few shots about 2 hours before the tragic break over the ridge and will process those shots pretty soon.
Thank you again and I will try to keep you posted.
My prayers are also with all those in Colorado in harms way. It is heartbreaking to see these fires. @exposure4u I am glad you posted. I was worried about you knowing you were close to the fire area. Glad you are safely out of the way.
@exposure4u I am so, so sorry to hear that your home might be affected. The pictures I've seen have been terrifying. This is an unimaginable tragedy. My thoughts are with you.
@iridecentburden Thanks, what a kind post. I live in Golden, between Boulder and Colorado Springs on the foothills. We are creating an evac plan this weekend, just in case. Its going to be a long summer.
