Thinking about buying this lens which is the NON-IS version. Looking for some input from anyone that has this lens so I could check out your pictures. There is about $900 difference in price between the IS and NON-IS. Thanks for any input you can provide.

Al, I have it - and it is a superb lens. . .look away. The only thing is I'm not sure if many of my shots on 365 use it. I'll go look for some particular ones for you. . .(although may take a while, since I'm SUPPOSED to be working ;->)!

@hollandcrew Pass it up and get the Sigma 70-200 OS. Better image quality, same price range + image stabilization.

I have the II IS version. For me the IS is worth the $$$ for the work I do.

I need to work on my feet and I only get one chance to get that image, and if the image is blurred then I have wasted my time.

sure I can crank up the ISO but that also has it problems.

Here are a couple of image I took the other day.

Happy to take a photo of something more along what you would take and upload it for you. Just let me know.

Both IS and non IS versions are great zoom lenses and IMHO image qualities of both are pretty much the same, so it depends if you really need the IS version. As I am not a professional shooter, I don't need IS, but as someone who enjoys low-light photography and usually shooting after dark, I do. These are some of the shots taken with the IS version that I would have missed without the IS. IS both let you use slower shutter speed and see through the lens like you have much more stable hands so the camera doesn't jerk around - you can concentrate on taking photos.

Aaron, I have the IS version and it's my favorite lens. In spite of the price difference between it and the non-IS, there is no doubt in my mind that is was money well spent.

Thanks everyone for the comments. I will probably take a deep breath and get the IS version. My plans center around more indoor shots and I know the IS will give better results in low light. But it sure is hard to pull the trigger on that investment. It will pay off in the end!
