Identify This Bird

This is a photo of a bird I took in March. I'm not 100% sure what it is but I think it is either a robin or oriole. Also, I would like to know if it is an adult or a juvenile.

I don't have my bird book with me but my first instinct is some kind of towhee

It does look like an Eastern Towhee possibly. What country or part of country are you in? Not an Oriole from Midwest US or Robin from here.

@kerristephens I agree with Kerri, it is a Towhee. An adult female Eastern Towhee seems the best fit.

Well it certainly isn't typically English! Sandy @quiltincats is good with birds too - any idea? :}

I know him. He's called Jacob. He came into my shop the other week, and bought a packet of Minstrels.

I'm going to say adult female Eastern Towhee. If you photograph a lot of birds, and need help identifying, you want to look into www.whatbird.com They are my go to source for bird identification.

I'm with Kerri, Robert, and Melissa ~ It looks smaller than an American Robin and it is scrounging on the ground for bugs. It does look like a female Eastern Towhee.

I'm not an expert on birds so I use www.whatbird.com just as Melissa suggested.

It is easy to search for a bird because of all the options like location, size, body shape, colors, etc, can be checked. From your choices, it will narrow down the list and you can look at photos and listen to their songs.

I too believe she's an adult Eastern Towhee. Colors are right, markings on wings are right.

I'm with Kit ( @manek43509 )... except I think HER name is Jacoba... she mentioned that she thought you may have misunderstood when she told you her name! :)
