Is something wrong with the "Latest" page?

I just went to the "Latest" page and was happily browsing the images there, finally clicking on a link to this lovely photo.

And then I noticed that the date on the photo was June 11, 2012.

Why is it showing up on the latest page on August 1, 2012?

(It's not that I'm not glad to have seen it, but the date discrepancy rather confused me.)

If you click on the "exif" link, you will find that the photo was just uploaded, taken at an earlier date and was assigned the June date.

"Latest" is just that, the last pictures to be uploaded.

@bernicrumb Because it shows the "latest" upload's, someone can be uploading to any date they want.

Ah, OK... Thanks for the info. It had me scratching my head. :-) After only 2 months here, I continue to find out more things that I do not know.
