What does pin it mean?

Sorry I'm a little dense but I have seen if a person really likes someone's picture on here they may ask if they can pin it. I'm not sure what that means.

You can "pin" something and it actually means you can take it and save it on a virtual online site called Pinterest. Its like having a corkboard with stuff that you like and you can go back to it any time you want. Its pretty addicting. I "pin" photos of shoot ideas for inspiration when I take family photos or such. :) They have EVERYTHING, recipes, photos, crafts and so much more.

@calm @superbeyotch Thank you so much for the information. I'll have to check into it. I've never heard of it before. It sounds like fun.

There is a lot of controversy over copyright laws and pinterest, I think it's a nice idea myself but I have deleted my account.

I had never heard of this, but from this description seems to imply that it could encourage breach of copyright, and there are far too many people esger to steal and take the credit for other people's work, so I would not even consider using it.

I don't see how it's all that different than bookmarking pages with your browser. It's nicer though because you can collect things you find and put them in groups on virtual corkboards so it's really easy to go back and reference them.

Very interesting everyone. I understand about the copyright thing. I guess it could be a problem.

Ill tell you how its different @Lisabell... They have taken my bat image, one that took years of experience to get, my name has been removed so I don't get the accolade I deserve, and people then profit from the theft (there's an advert for bat surveys above my image). I don't mind people bookmarking my Flickr coz they see me and I get the credit I deserve.
