If I were the photographyer, I would refused to expose myself and other people to danger - water or river and uncontrolled environment. Few weeks ago a hobby-photographer had an accident (dropped to his death) here in British Columbia.
That was close to here. The photographer tried to save her, but she was pulling him under with him so he had to let go. The current was stronger than she anticipated and the weight of her dress pulled her under. Horrifying and tragic for all involved.
This is a horrible incident that probably could have been avoided had they heeded the warning signs that seem to be all over that area. I saw this on the news last night and the family is blaming the photographer for using an unsafe location.
Reading the article it sounds like the bride wanted the photo done on the water. Man oh man. I can imagine a lot of photogs shaking their heads right now and re-evaluating some of their "stock" poses and locations.
Really sad an unnecessary death. Reading updated articles it turns out it actually was a trash the dress shoot. The photographers told her the location would be safe and there was no need to bring extra people in event of accident.
