Fool!

Amy
I've been on this site for 9 months now.. and this morning I was browsing through some albums, and accidentally made an image large.

WOAH. hang on a minute. How long has that button been there for?! Have I been browsing asleep?! Silly Amy! Now I know what you mean when you say "best viewed large"(I've just been zooming my browser in HA!)......*slopes off to mop up my shame and start looking at everyones picture in giant size...*

@amyamoeba I only realised this last month when I searched for a discussion on how to "view this image large" so maybe not quite as long as you - but still felt foolish :-) as so many images look fantastic viewed against a black background too!

Lol

@amyamoeba I don't believe it, I hadn't realised that button was there either! I've just had to search the discussions to find out where it was! I, too, am hanging my head in shame and will now spend the day viewing everyone's photos in large. :). Thank you Amy for starting this discussion as I would still be none the wiser!

That's hillarious! :D

Too funny!

LOL!

Hahaha... happy accidents are how I discover most things in life! :D

I had to ask a while back too. No shame.

LOL

I had that one figured out....but I just discovered if you hit 'shuffle' while on the PP it will bring up some different pictures too, as well as shuffling them around! Didn't know there were some hidden away!

*chortle*

@amyamoeba It was a while before I found that button, too! BUT what I had been doing was go to the information panel at the side where it says Sizes - view all. I found that right-clicking on the link for the biggest size allows you to copy it to your computer where you can really zoom in. Which is great - but it also means that images can be 'stolen'. What do you say, @scrivna ?
September 5th, 2012
Well, at least you found it! :)

You wouldn't believe how long it took me to discover that I could right click on a picture and "open link in a new tab" so that I wouldn't have to keep scrolling when returning to the home page. :)

Ok, add me to the list of fools... I still do not know where this enlarge button is or how to use it to view large..This is really dumb, I thought when you say view large, it just meant to click on the actual picture to take you to the persons account???? HELP!
September 5th, 2012
Where is this button located?
September 5th, 2012
@janturnbull Most images on the internet are that way. However this site and many many others compress the images (or so I'm told) so they aren't truly usable for much.....the only way to truly keep them from getting stolen is to not post them. :(

@ellen @amyamoeba The right click function can also be accomplished by pressing ctrl (cmnd on Mac's) and clicking the link/photo or by clicking your mouse wheel on the link/photo.....

Amy
@shirljess Next to the 'previous' button and the one with the little squares is a magnifying glass!

Happy I'm not alone here! HAHA!

@mariaswaisland Glad my silliness was of assistance!
September 5th, 2012
@amyamoeba - I did EXACTLY the same thing. Have been here since January 1st and only discovered the magnifying glass last week! Felt like a dodo :)

I was on here a long time before I realized that, too. I always thought people were just asking you to look beyond the thumbnail when they instructed "view large" lol.

I also just learned this week that you can download the original size of your photo from the website if you find you need to for some reason (sometimes I edit my photos in Picmonkey after uploading, so I like to re-download that version to my hard drive).

@shirljess @shadesofgrey Shirley, I thought the same thing for A LONG time! :) I also just learned this week that you can click on "Sizes - View All" and then copy the URL for the "Original size" and paste it into a new window to open up the photo in its original size (not sure if there are still compression issues). If you do it this way, the original version is often much larger than the "large" version you see with the one-click magnifying glass button.

LOL! My daughter came home one day and asked me how long we've had the tree on the front yard..."Oh only since we've been here 6 years ago!"
September 6th, 2012
@amyamoeba oh yeah...
September 6th, 2012
@ellen Wow, Ellen. I didn't know that. That will save a lot of time. Thanks.

@janturnbull Janet, I don't worry about anyone stealing my photos. I think it would be a compliment if they wanted them. But I did recently discover that if I look at the properties of the photo on my computer, then under details, I can add my name as the author and add my name to the copyright. Pretty cool.
