One of the hot discussions right now is about your top rated photos. Mine is of a barn with storm clouds in the sky. I was certain I'd never top it. Then along comes another freaky storm with freaky color and I chose a shack with a tiiiiiiiin roof! rusted! in foreground and voila! 25 faves in under 24 hrs. (which I am ENORMOUSLY grateful for and both honored and humbled by the reaction so far)...but I am curious... what is it about a storm that gets such a great response? Or is it the photos? Here's the new one.....
I love this, as I fav'd it first thing......but there is some emotion in capturing that moment in time. Almost like the saying.....make it thru with flying colors......that is each storm.....in life and nature.
Well.. this photo is incredibly gorgeous. It could so be like.. The cover of a book or.. something. I'd totally frame it and put it up on my wall. The barn just looks so weathered. The sky is amazing. I've NEVER seen a storm like that in my life. Beautiful.
@shotsbymeg it was a first for me too... the color initially had me worried, but as I was told later.. green is the color that you have to worry about.
@rockinrobyn you know, I was so entranced by the woman in the photo that I never noticed the sky until you mentioned that! LOL Her stare is so intense.
Storms stir up attavistic feelings in humans and animals alike. We fear their potential destructiveness but need their benefits. We are in awe of a power that we can't control. A photo of a threatening sky might have the ability to conjure up all these things. In your picture, a rickety structure is standing alone in a field and nasty clouds are approaching. Some people might identify with the vulnerability of this inanimate object.
Personally, i've always loved dramatic sky... sometimes i'm lucky enough to catch them with strange lighting like yourself, othertimes its just the clouds that look so angry :
A few days before a cyclone almost came through miami
@jsw0109 when I look at storm photos or experience an actual storm I am reminded what an incredible place our planet is and sometimes we humans are truly insignificant compared to the power of Mother Nature.
