Rude Comments

August 24th, 2010
I had a rude comment on one of my photos by a member who seems to have created their ID only for this purpose. I thought maybe they only commented on my photo but I have been told they have done it to other people too. This person has no pictures, no followers, nobody following them. I have written to Ross and let him know about it but have had no response and the ID is still valid. I really don't want to publish their ID and give them attention, although maybe I should. I would like to see how many other people they have done this to so perhaps I can let Ross know that it isn't only me.

Anyone else?

Sorry to hear that happened to you. I saw that you mentioned that the other day. That is just low. It has not happened to me, but I hope the situation is resolved and the ID is removed.

That's horrible... those people are called flamers I think? Or something like that ( and I don't mean outwardly gay men lol) And their "Flaming" is childish, unnecessary and rude! They have no life and feel they need to bring everyone else down. I think you should call them out and we can all complain about them and get them kicked off. They don't belong on this site if they are not participating. This is a specific site for ppl that want to be a part of the project. If this was another photographer being an ass it would still be horrible but this person you are talking about just seems like they are here only to harrass and bring us down. Boo!

Gotta confront these people Karen ! If the administrators won't delete the account, publish the persons ID so WE can fight back !! This is one reason Yahoo 360 was always a headache ! It's sad that we need Internet police, but some people have nothing better to do.....tell us who it is !!!!

I too saw you mention it the other day. Haven't come across it myself. Why does there always have to be someone who has to spoil things. Sad on them because I have found nothing but lovely folk here. Hope this makes them slink away. Hope Ross can sort it for you Karen.

that is horrible- I really think you should publish thier id so that we can stand up against this person, and people like him! This site has always been such a positive place and I would love to see it stay that was, as I'm sure everyone, at least the vast majority would. I'm sure Ross will handle it appropriately, as he did with the photo "stealing".

Me too , I think you should publish their ID.
They're not brave enough, to say whatever they want to say to you, in your face, and would rather hide behind an unknown account. How rude.

Ahh, 365 has a troll. How wonderful for us. While my curiosity is killing me and I'd love to know the user ID, it's probably also worth mentioning that trolls love attention, and threads like this are giving them exactly what they want.

But I still want to know who it is :)

flamers...lol...was thinking maybe "inflamist" but that isn't a word...should be though.... i've always called people like that "snipers" because they shoot nasty comments from a distance, never revealing their identity because they are cowards (kinda like the DC snipers)...just my thoughts anyway....

would love to know the name....saw a very rude comment on one of the dear woman's that i am following photos too....wondering if it's the same. hers was by Hugh/Hugh91. rude, inpolite, bored with his own life, if you ask me. karen--you deleted his comment? correct?? hopefully ross will see to it that this profile and/or the one of the guy who left you the comment is delted soon! captain ross to the rescue....
August 24th, 2010
Just delete the comments as soon as they are posted and maybe he/she will go away.
August 24th, 2010
yes delete the comment and let Ross know! that's awful!
August 24th, 2010
I have had the same making all sorts of idiotic comments, I also noted that he posted some pics, turns out they weren't even his I removed him and deleted his comments, and haven't heard from him since

This may take a bit of coding to pull off, but maybe we could set up a troll list with all the troll ID's. Basically, the person flagged as a trolli can still leave comments and they will appear normally to the troll, but when the person the troll left a comment for views his or her comments, the troll comment would flagged as potential troll fodder and body of the comment hidden. The user could then have the option to view the body of the comment for a good laugh.

Sorry to hear Karen. Havent seen it before.
August 24th, 2010
It's inevitable that 365 would eventually get trolls too :(
August 24th, 2010
So sad certain people need to do this. I haven't seen anything since i am brand new here, but I suggest to delete and report. The more "airtime" they get the more they will seek more attention. Sorry this happened to you Karen. I am sure you weren't singled out just a random "hit". :)

There is always some (nut job)out there to do this sort of thing. Deletion as said in other responces is the best option . Maybe someday the person will get tired of it. Being rude must be the persons talent seeing how no pictures are posted. What a shame, kind of a waste of human flesh. Maybe the person just needs a good friend------
August 24th, 2010
Clearly not a genuine member, if they have no photographs and don't follow anyone... Take no notice! :)
August 24th, 2010
That sucks, most people here are actually participating in the project and giving nice/constructive comments. Hopefully whomever this is gives up.
August 24th, 2010
Thanks for the replies everyone! Yes, I deleted it right away and then a couple of days ago someone wrote me and said they saw someone make rude comments on someone else's photo and asked me if it was the same person, and it was. I wrote to Ross but he hasn't written back yet. Hopefully they delete their own account and grow up.
August 24th, 2010
delete & ignore i would say ... people like this are best ignored they eventually go away .... (o;

Whenever I'm coming across those people I'm wondering how bored and dull someone can be...I mean, really, trolls, get a life.

I think that publishing their ID WON'T help. (letting all know who it is) It will draw attention to them which is obviously what they want, they thrive on this type of behaviour and I doubt that any of us could do or say anything that would make this person stop. Furthermore, I think we all have better ways to spend our time. I think they should be left for Ross to sort it out the best way by deleting the account. You could point Ross's attention to this thread to make him aware of how we all feel.

Stuff like that makes me want to curse...Well, I am cursing, you just can't hear me :) Some stupid kid being a, well, uh, stupid kid! No offense to some of my favorite 'kids' on here... You all are brilliant and far from stupid... Ah hell, I'll just stop while I'm ahead and continue to say dirty words under my breath. . . Karen, if it's any consolation, I've NEVER seen a single bad photo come from you!
August 24th, 2010
what a wanker , dont pay any attention to the tosser .. Ur photos are awesome !!! Im sure ross will sort him out !!!
August 24th, 2010
thats aweful! i say reveal the name. he/she doesnt deserve to be on 365 and soulld be reported ASAP
August 24th, 2010
Gah! Thanks so annoying! oh well...i think just paying no attention to them, and deleting their comments will make them go away. But still...
Gah!
August 25th, 2010
lol Ashley J Wilson, your response made me laugh....
so this troll we speak of... luckily I havnt noticed him... but he/she/it's GOTTA GO ;)
August 25th, 2010
Shameful......and I like Lauren like the term "Troll" to describe this person....I'm sure Ross will do the appropriate thing. Sorry to hear you had to deal with this type of immaturity.
August 25th, 2010
What sort of rude comments is this cat leaving? Am curious...
August 26th, 2010
I had comments too. At first I thought it was a joke. Then I read the persons profile.

While it is mean spirited - I took it as a critique that perhaps I wouldn't have gotten otherwise. I'm fine that alot of my stuff sucks. He/she just snapped me out of it.

It certainly is a really poor way of going about his/her mission. Being honest when commenting would be a much better approach from this person. This just promotes an all around bad vibe.

Sorry you were also a victim.

Might be worth considering a future update to the site where we can approve or delete comments before they are published. You can switch this option on in Blogger and I find it incredibly useful. I've had a lot of spam comments lately on my blog but they don't get through because the email from Blogger has a link to either publish or reject.
