Spare A Few Words?

January 3rd, 2013
Hi, guys, I am in the process of updating my website and was hoping to get a few opinions from you guys. I am looking for a few descriptive words that will help clients identify with my style of photography. I would greatly appreciate it if I could get a few people to check out my 365 project and possibly my webstie if you have the time and help me out! Thanks in advance and please keep in mind that my website is still currently under construction! :0)

I like you photographs and I like how you have presented your work. Here are some ideas that came into my mind. I would move main navigation from bottom to top. At the moment I have to scroll a little to see it. Website's secondary navigation (portfolio page) could use more pastel tones and some other font that would match with other fonts used on the site. What also catch my attention was this little time lag between clicking on the navigation item and the moment when page loads. These are just my ideas as a regular site visitor =)

Simply beautiful. You connect with the individual spirit of each child.

The old fashioned school photo and shop posed baby photo are nice viewed through the eyes of a mother or father but they always lack personality. As a mother myself, I struggle to sincerely appreciate how the forced photo from school has captured my child when I know he/she smiled under instruction. Your pictures capture the child, the expression, the emotion and the moment and that is what makes them priceless and extremely beautiful.

@nicolamac -Nicola, wow, that means so much to me. I have to be honest and admit that are times when I question what I do and question if I am doing it right. Where I am from, there is soo much competition and I am still searching for ways to seperate myself from the crowd, so hearing your kind words, and the kind words of everyone else who has commented, makes me feel like I might be headed in the right direction!

Love the colors in that page. I think it's perfect for babies and kid photography. Very nice layout too. Did you do the site yourself? Amazing design. Simple but perfect for the product. (I am a software developer and I've always struggled with design, cause I'm not creative enough ;)) And btw, you have amazing photos.

Few suggestions (this is only based on my own personal opinion)
- Text in Session page is very small. It'll also probably help if you add a solid/translucent color background to that text.
- I think it's better if you change the slideshow effect in the Home page in a slower fading effect. I feel like the current setup is sort of in a hurry :)
- And Lili already mention there's a tiny lag between clicking on navigation page and actual loading of page. This is not a big issue though. But I especially like the fading effect between changing pages.

@hopess13 -Thanks!
@gladysmg -Hi, Gladys, thanks! I started off with a customizeable general layout. Colors are my choosen colors for my business. I did make most of the changes that you suggested, but unfortunately the server had a problem and I lost it all before I got it saved. SO, I will go back and try again in a bit. I tried to change the speed of the front slideshow, but unfortunately it doesn't get much slower than what it is. Again, I am going to see if I can mess around with it a little more later on. And as far as the lag between clicking on navigation page and acutal loading page, I honestly have no idea how to fix that. I appreciate all tips and advice as I am a novice when it comes to websites and I am trying to save money by doing it all myself, lol.
@trixiehiscock -Thank you so very much for your comment! :0)

You don't have to get anyone to make you a website cause you're doing a great job yourself. I think that your site is ready for deployment :) Good luck with your photography venture :)

@gladysmg @trixiehiscock @hopess13 @nicolamac @russianblue @hauss @tbats22 @wadazomo -- Okay, so I have come up with two sort of slogans that I want to use, based on some of the words that you guys gave me, let me know which one works better. 1.) "real, pure, . . . you" 2.) "real, natural, . . . fun". Or should I keep working on it, lol?

@tamaralaraphotography I like the first slogan more.

Real, pure, you is perfect in my opinion!

@hauss @trixiehiscock -Thanks, I asked a few clients and a few friends and they liked the first one, too. So I think I am going to go with that one. Thanks for everyone's help and words! I am so grateful!

You're a really good photographer Tamara! I'm in love with the way you capture the personality and joy of each individual child. Your website is great as well. I like how simple the layout is and it's very easy to navigate. I know you're still working on it but I if you're going to add an "About Me" page on your website is? It helps perspective clients to know a little bit about the photographer.
