Have you tried signing up for the get pushed challenges? There's also weekly themes, and camera setting challenges. There is a discussion thread with a daily list of ideas for the month of February...
I love doing the daily word challenges each month. posted by @gphelps5
I try to think outside the box though - so, whatever idea comes to mind first when I see the word, I completely ignore and think about it a little bit harder :) Awesome stuff. Epecially because loads of other people do it, and it's really interesting to see what others come up with. http://365project.org/discuss/themes-competitions/16219/feature-4-feb
Does, of course, make me look a bit bonkers hahah.
Why don't you set your self a challenge like working through the alphabet a letter a day. Or getting different numbers or colours for every day of the week.
We all have this problem, it is not easy to try and do something new every day. If you get stuck use some of your old shots to fill-in, maybe a bit of an edit to find a different feel.
@naturalbeauty There is a word of the day posted monthly. See feb2013. Not that you have to do the word that day, but it may give you some ideas. If you have time, go to some places like the zoo, aquariums, museums, parks, rivers...etc. The ideas are really endless. Look at how light hits a stationary abject at different times of the day.
Themes and challenges are nice but you must find a way to keep photographing fun! To do so, you must ask yourself why you started the project. Go back to your root and stick to your goal for a while. It's not about the best of shots, the pp page, the comments, and so on. It's about you and your ideas. Look around you and find the odd in normal. It's like watching the same movie over and over again and seeing new details each time. Those details are the ones you need for your project! Keep on going. Succes.
@naturalbeauty You've gotten a lot of fantastic advice, Fran. If it's any consolation, I hit the same block right around this point in my project last year. It's a challenge coming up with something new and unique every day. What I did was start watching all of the daily uploads for inspiration. I also started to make lists of groups of subjects to photograph. (You'll see that periodically in my family. All of a sudden there are sequential days of historic buildings, or homes in a certain style, or an entire week of scenes from a location along our coast.)
Here's something you may want to try. Show us your home town! Capture the sites that, as tourists, we'd find interesting. What does you local theater look like? How about your post office, mailbox, firebox, just about anything that looks pretty common to you, but as a tourist from another country we would find exotic and fascination?
Are there any historically significant sites near you? Show us! How about old cemeteries? Anytime I'm really stumped, I know I can find an interesting tombstone to photograph. (They make GREAT b&w subjects, btw.)
Consider looking at your town in different times of the day, too. It's completely different at night, and seemingly dull daytime shots turn magnificent under the nighttime lights.
Think of some of the many interests you have, and consider how that would work into photography. Show us your hobbies and other interests. Your pointe shoes, your art supplies, even your photo supplies can become interesting subjects.
Keep the photos coming! I know you said your project is dull, but having followed you from Day 1, I strongly disagree. I think your project is exciting and is progressing beautifully. You've a wonderful eye for composition, so now it's just a matter of keeping the inspiration flowing. (That's not easy. I know I go through several dry spells each month, and end up falling back on my list of "safety shots" - items I know I can get in an emergency.)
@byrdlip Hi there. I'm Fran's grandma, and I watched the TED talk. It was inspirational and I'll jog her memory to watch it. Thank you for taking the time and trouble to reply to her. @naturalbeauty Have a look at this Fran. It's great!
