Farewell 365, it has been a fun time...

September 16th, 2010
I have decided after some thought to leave the 365 project. Over the last few weeks I have realized I do not have the time and energy to keep up with daily photography, or consistent viewing and commenting on people's photographs.

I have a demanding job, requiring travel, which usually means I need to spend extra time with family and with catching up. I also don't want to take mediocre pictures, just to fill space. I still want to take photographs, but it will be more intermittent.

I really have enjoyed being part of this projects and have learned two very valuable skills. First, I have finally figured out how to use photoshop effectively (after owning it for 2 years). Second, I have learned how to appreciate other peoples creativity and skill, and also how to express myself better. Thanks to all the people that I follow and follow me, for being supportive and adding such positive energy to this project.

I am not going to close this account, and I may still pop up now and again to view and comment. Maybe, I will post in the future, we will just have to see...

We will miss you Malcolm!

I am happy for you that you are spending more time with family - that is something that you can't just take a break from like 365. I've enjoyed your photos and value the comments and feedback on my photos. I am glad that you will drop in on us from time to time and look forward to being surprised by a new photo sometime in the future :)

That's a shame but i totally understand where you are coming from. This project is time-consuming and requires a certain amount of time and committment for it to work. It will be nice to see you from time to time on here and best wishes for the future.

You will be missed, for sure, Malcom. I always enjoyed your work and do hope you continue because it's fun. Take care of yourself and family as you continue on your journey in this life. :-)
September 16th, 2010
We will miss your creative photos, Malcolm! I understand, though, that 365 can be really demanding. I am hoping you'll pop up and say 'hi' every once in a while ;-) You don't have to post a photo everyday...maybe once a week? ;-)
September 16th, 2010
@chevymom I'm sad my husband has decided to leave this Project, it was initially his idea to join. But yes, I'll be staying put! I know he will continue with his photos and do a great job with them--and hopefully, he'll post some of them on here in the future. (:
September 16th, 2010
You will be missed, Malcolm, but you have your priorities right where they should be and I applaud you for that. You will be missed for sure. Dratted responcibilities!! =) Do pop in once in a while!
September 16th, 2010
Duh....Clarissa....I didn't realize Malcolm was your husband...but in retrospect it makes perfect sense. You both have such a unique eye and spirit of adventure in your captures.

Malcolm, I've really enjoyed your photos, when I've had time to stop and do more than just upload mine, that is. So I DO know how you feel.

But you could, as others have suggested, just add a photo now and then when you can...without feeling obligated.

If others' comments all over this site are any indication, we all struggle at times from lack of motivation, time, energy, creativity...but I think the project has really evolved, certainly in the 6 + months that I've been participating.

Of course the project is intended to document a year in one's life with a new pic everyday, but the best thing I think, is that it's completely up to the individual to determine how best to apply that to one's life, and to compliment - rather than hinder - one's everyday responsibilities.

If you could continue take the odd photo now and then to share with us when you have a bit of time, that would be just fine by me!
If not, best of luck to you!
Well done!

I have enjoyed your photos but I understand the time thing! I have been slack myself lately.Enjoy your family and come back if you can!!
September 18th, 2010
Dislike, Malcolm. Dislike very much. But I'm glad that you've learned new things. Keep in touch!!
September 20th, 2010
I feel a little in the same boat but more so because of my constant health issues...I'm hanging in for now but I totally understand. I wish you all the best and appreciate your courage for prioritising your family over the project. I do hope to see you pop up every now and then though. 365 is awesome and we all learn something and get something good out of it whether we make the whole 365 days or not. There is a reason and season for everything and you have been smart enough to realise that. Bless You. Safe travel for work and enjoy your family and photography when you can :-)
