missed days

February 10th, 2010
So ok there are days when, for what ever reason, I don't get a chance to pick up my camera... like on the 13th January I didn't get to take a shot so left it blank... I hate doing that and usually I fill in the gap with a picture taken as close to that day as possible. I have left that day blank to remind me of what a terrible day I'd had and the reason why taking a photo was the last thing on my mind.

So what do I do, do I fill in the day with another pic or do I leave it blank?

I'd say it's totally up to you. I will probably fill any of my missed days in with a photo that relates to the day and just explain in my description. I will probably be doing that this next week as I'm going in for surgery on Monday to get my wisdom teeth out. :(

ya it IS up to you, agreed

personally, i would fill it in with a different photo taken close to the date with a description

aw, good luck angie :S hope it goes well!

I would leave it blank.

I would get a big piece of colored paper, write 'THIS DAY CANCELED DUE TO SUCKINESS" in sparkly ink, take a picture and post that.
February 11th, 2010
I would would leave it blank... because it is okay to occasionally miss a day... we are humans, and we do have a life to live... this Project is supposed to be fun... not a chore. But... I really like April's suggestion... April can I borrow your idea?

Love it April....

Agree with Bob and Dora. Once you start filling in days you start treating it like a job instead of a hobby. If nothing else, it teaches you that you can't be perfect in everything you do.

I was pondering the same thing... I missed Feb 9th.

I missed a good few the beginning of January and simply left them blank, but I really don't like that, but I know too that this is supposed to be fun so I force myself to relax and accept it.
I have filled in a couple when I've missed a day and then I also add a description.

Ha! I'm stealing that idea April ;)
February 12th, 2010
Great idea April!
February 12th, 2010
i kind of borrowed aprils idea the other day. i was super busy with work and school and just didnt have time to take pictures so i took this one real quick while i was working on my homework.

If I miss a day I will leave it blank, the point for me is to shoot everyday for 365 days, if I fill in just one day, thats one less day I pick up the camera. Depends on your purpose for doing this I guess.
February 13th, 2010
It's YOUR project ~ as someone said to me ... there are no 365project police! ~ so do what works for you. My PRIMARY goal is a documentation of the little moments, so if I miss a day, I will fill the day in with something that has the same intent. (I really lke April's idea, as well!)

the blanks will remind me that sometimes it's just not possible...and i'm ok with that....i'll just remember how busy i was.

Wu
@ April I love that idea...I'm going o have to use it

@ Erica that's just awesome haha
But I'd say if you miss a day, just leave it blank. You're not going to be chastised for missing a day. we are after all human

I missed several days this week with a very bad back which kept me in. I considered leaving the dates blank, then decided to post some older pics. My reason -- I'm doing this project to get myself taking photos on a regular basis, and hopefully, to become a better photographer. The photos I'm posting are ones I wanted to practice some editing on, since that is totally new to me. I also tried to choose photos that fit the mood of Valentine's weekend...

what about going on holiday? i will be away for a couple of weeks later in the year and was wondering about this
February 13th, 2010
Going on vacation is the perfect time to take pictures. You can upload them when you get back. Your photo program will probably have the correct dates attached when you upload them so it will be a great record of your holiday.
February 14th, 2010
I understand how you can miss a day, we all have I think! But for me that would bug me that I didn't put something there, what if you were to just shoot a blank white piece of paper and upload it? That way your stats aren't messed with and you'll still get your "blank" space!
February 15th, 2010
I've tried to keep relative photos for each day. But just as some days are a lull, some days are overfull. If two things happen on one day but zero the next, I split the two to fill in the empty day.
February 15th, 2010
i take/choose and upload a couple the next day instead if i can. i know it shouldn't feel like a chore but as part of the reason i'm doing this is to try and stick to something, it feels weird/wrong to have nothing at all *shrug*. as for the vacation photos, even if you don't have dates just take as many photos as you can/feel like taking and spread them out to fill in the 'missed' days :-) that's what i'd do, anyway.
February 15th, 2010
I did this but put a picture up from a while ago... its a great picture and I love that it reminds me of spring and summer and love and all the good stuff... do what feels right!
February 15th, 2010
I have to admit, this is a question i've been wondering for a while. I'm taking this project to the maximum and forcing myself to take a photo every day - rain / hail / shine to try and get better. If i'm sick or cant think of anything.. I imagine that i'll use April's idea but even something like this can be made to look interesting I think. As for holidays, absolutely... i'm going to Dublin in March and will be reeling off LOADS of photos. I'll upload when I get back :)
February 15th, 2010
I would leave it blank. With that said I know I would be tempted to throw up a picture that I took on another day, because there are days where have to choose between a number of shots and wish I could save for another day. So far I haven't had to deal with it.
February 15th, 2010
my sister just had her baby yesterday, and i just got the time now to upload all of my photos today. i don't think it's a big deal to be late on uploading photos, and if you miss a day (because, like me, i was in the hospital with my family all day) what's the big deal if you substitute? i like this project because it forces me to work, and as long as i do SOMEthing, i'm happy. i guess it's up to you.
February 16th, 2010
I usually fill in with a picture from close to that day. Especially if I recently had a day where I shots hundreds of photos, of which I liked many. I have occasionally filled in with an old photo special to me, and I describe it as such in the description. Filling in the blanks keeps me motivated. It's like checking all the boxes on a list. But truly, it's up to you.

LOVE April's idea!! Like so many website pages when an error occurs or the page does not have the intended information. The little 'oops' message that pops up. It would be fun creating an array of those for the days we simply did not get to it! I do not like seeing blank days so I fill mine in with a picture from the same time period, like so many have suggested.
