Who is not afraid of sharing?

November 16th, 2010
I am most impressed with fellow Aussie and 365er @jinximages . I have not yet met on 365 a person as willing and unpretentious to share knowledge, tips and just be an all over great 365er.

Yes there are other lovely and friendly and funny 365er's but let me know who else shares as much technical information as Jinx!

Come and share your 365er who is willing to share to openly and freely.

You and Craig Tull and Krissy helped answer my questions about video. I haven't gotten much more technical than that. :)

I have yet to encounter someone on here who didn't help when asked to.

Jinx has been great for me as well- but Joe Ciras http://365project.org/cirasj/profile takes the cake for me. When I was trying to learn multiplicity he was a tremendous help, going as far as making a video for me! Thanks Joe, Jinx and the rest of you out there who are helping us less technically inclined 365ers :)

I agree with Annie. If you see something and are curious, just ask. Most everyone seems willing to share information.

i have to agree. i learned more from Jinx than i ever could have imagined. this site is full of openess. that is why it is my safe place. especially since i am soooooo new to photography. thanks to all and especially your Jinx.

ALMOST everyone on 365 is a great friend and is more than happy to share tips and tricks....you just need to ask. It's my favorite photo site for that reason.

I enjoy watching vikdaddy http://365project.org/vikdaddy/365 He's made this a real learning project for himself and it's great to see all he's accomplished. I regularly scour his and Jinx's photos for tips and inspiration.

The Steve.

Yeah, jinx is always a good read. I share occasionally when it is asked. Never afraid to share. We are all here to get better allegedly, so why not.

This is why i love this site, everyone is so nice and helpful

@stepheesue oh yes of course the steve - he is a legend of macro scripts to help navigate around nuances of this site and people.

I agree, yes when one asks one is given information but I was think more along the lines of general info on the image presented without having to ask. True open sharing.

Not saying this site or the people don't share, just wondering who the others are who give info on the pic up front.

Cheers.

I so can be pretentious! ;) Haha! But truly, this kinda floored me. I've put off responding because I now feel all shy! You know, I get just as much, if not more, from the wonderful people here in this community, than what small tokens I give.

I'll also admit selfish reasons for sharing. I want people to be educated. Educated people raises the quality of photography, but also the knowledge of potential clients. Educated clients spend money with the right photographers (true photographers), because they have a better understanding of what good photography is and how to judge it. And also, the understanding that they have to pay for it. It helps the industry. So, it also helps me. :)

I've got to give kudos to The Steve. He has an immense technical knowledge that he's willing to share (in many forms).

Also to Vikdaddy. He has such words of encouragement for people, and I'm certain is the cause of much inspiration in peoples' photographic lives.

There are others who share in amazing ways, like Bekki Reed (MIA), but I'm starting to go off on a tangent of encouragement and kindness.

Oh baby, I didn't know we were having a love-in!

Firstly, thanks for the nods, @misschuff & @stepheesue :)

Secondly, I'd essentially QFT* what @jinximages said (although I'd take out his mention of me, don't want to be seen giving kudos to myself now, that's just not cricket :p ) - I'm less specifically interested in getting people to gen up on the photography industry, mind, as I don't do it professionally, but I do know a fair bit about these computermebob things and that's the area I like to do my little bit to help improve others' knowledge of, where I can (head starting to not fit out the door, must end paragraph soon).

I'd QFT everything in this thread, basically. The aforementioned sorts are some lovely sorts and I've benefited a lot in my photographic knowledge (if not the execution, yet) from their lovely sortingness.

So yeah, thanks for the thanks :)

*Quote For Truth - it's an internet nerd thing, used in forums when you want to say "what he said"... I'll stop now.

@jinximages / @eyebrows I can see a bromance starting
You guys are an inspiration to me, I know nothing about these cameramaphone things and your time taken to explain has helped me in many ways.

A big nod to Vikdaddy as well!!!

So why did I star this thread? Because I'm an educator (in real life) and absorb the 'how' and 'why' (past/present life as a journo - can't get away fro the 5W +1H).

I don't have time to go through the 1200 people who upload and as I want/need to improve I'm looking for those who share openly and then will follow them, read, thank and [hopefully] improve.

So, in short this was started for selfish reasons:

* to find other 365er's like Jinx that I can follow who share information in the caption

P.S. also sooo interesting to see at present 208 people have view this thread and only 13 people have made comment! Why is that? Emmmmm.
