DC/ metro area

so I live in MD I was thinking about how I would really love to learn more about my camera. I have just started taking it off of auto and have tried playing with what little I know. I did the light in the dark with street lights pics and I had so much fun. Im very much a hands on kind of girl so it takes me a bit to learn how to do something from READING IT.....

my question is, anyone in the DC/ metro area wanna get together and do a lesson haha (yeah teach me) maybe a couple times? I think maybe it would be fun to do a group of people to get together and walk around DC with our cameras for the day or something??

I really want to learn as much as I can :) anyhow, if anyone is local to this area and wants to teach me OR even learn with me post here so we can figure something out :D

Hello Sarah, and welcome to the world of creativity!

For a distant lesson that you will be able to grasp quickly and have fun with.....
Set your camera to Aperture Priority Mode (AP/AV/A).
This will be the setting that you will want to use 90% of the time.
Add some creative vision by playing with the AP settings.
(9-11 is considered generic safe level)

Less things in focus = Lower number
More things in focus = Higher number.
Easy enough?

If you find that the images are coming out a too dark or too light for your liking, look into "exposure compensation" for your particular camera.
Then fine tuning what you are looking for is just a few clicks away!

Have fun and play

question.. sorry if its dumb but I set my Nikon on (A) and was using the dial to change the ( F) number thats what you are saying 9-11 is the safe level? F means focus right? just wanting to understand this :D

I really wish I had a buddy to teach me and help me out! Would understanding exposure explain some or any of this to me??

thanks!

Hey Sarah!
If you find something local, can you let me know? I've had my camera for 2 years now and still keep it in Auto mode most of the time. I've purchased several books, but never seem to have the time to look at them and try to figure it out!!
