Does anyone have experience shopping with the photography equipment store/website Adorama? I'm looking to buy my first SLR within the next month or so and am currently considering a refurbished Nikon D3000 from www.adorama.com ... but I'm weary of shopping online for something like this. I was hoping someone could reassure me that the website is ok, or tell me it's awful before I give them my money, lol.
I had WONDERFUL luck with Adorama. I had to call their customer service and I had no problem getting a person right away. After reading Ken Rockwell's site, I used his link to place my order. www.kenrockwell.com
I've used Adorama before and never had a problem. I called up once to change my shipping to expedited so I would have the lens I ordered for the weekend and the customer service lady told me that that wouldn't be necessary and she would make sure I recieved my lens in time. Good place.
Kathy- I know what you mean about that site. Do you ever feel like the links go on and on FOREVER. It seemed the more I read the more I needed to read... LOL It did help me decide in the end what to get. I couldn't afford the D90 so I went with a refurbished D40 from Adorama. I'm very happy with my purchase.
Kathy, Adorama is very legit and a respected online e-tailer for this equipment. They are not gray market, which is what you want to avoid. I also recommend checking B&H Photo, and Roberts Imaging. I like Roberts Imaging personally.
Valerie, he makes the D90, D40, and D5000 all sound pretty darn good, and it's making me rethink my D3000 decision.
Chris, that's what I was hoping to hear, that they're a legit company and not gray market. I've heard of B&H and I'll look into Roberts Imaging too - thanks for the heads up!
Adorama is a GREAT website and store...it is used by many professionals and B & H is the BEST. either one. just remember when purchasing any camera equipment that it is from an AUTHORIZED dealer of whatever brand you are purchasing.
I wouldn't NOT recommend Adorama; their prices and products are top knotch. But I've always had odd experiences with them. I purchased a brand new $3000 lens from them, immediately received a receipt in my e-mail from them. Yet two weeks later when it should have arrived, according to their site and customer service I had never ordered it. Didn't even have my credit card on file. A few days later it showed up at my door. Never figured out why it happened. The weirder thing is, the same thing happened to a friend of mine a few months ago with them. But still, the products are great, and I did receive! =)
Just made my first purchase from them, early on it looked like it was going to be a pain, I called them and everything was taken care of in 2min and customer service was GREAT. Everyone makes mistakes, how they handle those mistakes defines the company.
i bought a refurbished canon 50d from them and love it. i've bought a few lenses and random items from them as well and as far as i can find it's always been the cheapest. their customer service was never amazing for me, but it got the job done. :)
i think i bought my nikon d80 through them... i can't remember because i bought it through amazon, but i do know i bought my holga starter kit through them on amazon, and it was a quick and easy process.
no problem at all what so ever :)
best of luck with your shopping!
