My wish to the Creator of 365 Project: Photo collage/summary a week of People whom we follow

February 4th, 2011
Sometimes there are days that I miss those beautiful and awesome photos of people whom I follow. It will be great if we can have a photo collage of photos for that week so that we can have a glimpse. Because currently in the Home feed structure, if you didn't open your 365 for a day I missed the photo of some people whom I followed especially when there is one or two persons uploading loads of photos to catch up, so the rest goes to the older post. This is just a request if it is possible but if not. I'll try to catch up then. Cheers!!!

yes i agree.. or maybe a grid view of all the photos uploaded by the ones you follow.. if it's not much to ask.. hihihii but yeah i always catch up anyway... since i follow less than 100 people... =)

You could always... scroll down more.

@eyebrows ha ;)
February 4th, 2011
More? You want more?????
February 4th, 2011
I agree, and wanted that too, because sometimes i really couldn't look at all everyday and only those who is visible i can easily browse and view. I still need to open their album one by one. If possible also those who are following us too can have easily access on viewing their album. Thanks and more power to 365project!

@ddantic Yeah, i'm not a huge fan of the dashboard now that i follow so many people, maybe have a page that shows just the images from the newsfeed? Thoughts?
February 4th, 2011
@Scrivna Yes, the dashboard is less than useful when you follow a lot of folk or someone uploads a huge bunch of pictures simultaneously. Can't imagine what would work better .... maybe the name of the person you follow and their last five or six tiny thumbnails without any text so you could see at a glance if you'd kept up to date with their postings... the sort of wee thumbnails that we have on our own pages .... if those eight were listed on the dashboard. This would make it impossible to add the quick comment to the current pictures (without always opening them) but maybe that's a good thing?
Whatever you do ... it will be sheer genius and way beyond anything that we could imagine.
You have no idea how grateful we are for such a fantastic, interactive site.

Hear hear @elizabeth :-) I second that motion.
February 4th, 2011
maybe a little message under each new photograph...
eg "@marshy15 has uploaded 2 images since you last logged in"
just a thought. :)

@Scrivna I like how the mobile dashboard works. Although you only get the latest thumbnail per person there. Maybe an expanded version of that would work? Say with the followees [(c) @eyebrows] last 3 or 4 uploads? Anyway I'm sure you'll have a great idea or three!
February 4th, 2011
Yeah i like @elizabeth idea, although you wouldn't want to see people that haven't updated in a while.

The newsfeed certainly needs some magic sprinkled on it, Facebook put in huge amounts of R&D to show you only the things you're likely to see, unfortunately we dont have the time or power to work all that out. I'm not even sure how many people use the quick comment box on the newsfeeds?
February 4th, 2011
@Scrivna Seeing as you're asking, I don't use the quick comment box.
February 4th, 2011
@Scrivna I think a lot of people use the quick comments based on some of the views vs. comments stats I have seen on images but I agree that it would be nice to see a condensed version to catch up a little quicker when you are short on time.
February 4th, 2011
@elizabeth Could not have said it better myself!
February 4th, 2011
@scrivna I actually use the quick comment quite a bit. Because when I comment on a picture by clicking through to it, I have to scroll down and wait for the page to load older posts every time I make a comment. The quick comment allows me to save time.
Though I am all for grouping several pictures posted by the same user in one blurb.
Oh and thanks for this wonderful site! Even if it stays the way it is, I'm hooked! ;-)
February 4th, 2011
@Scrivna I use the quick comment bit :o) so please keep that! please dont change the site too much, I think if you change it too much people will leave :o(
@elizabeth your ideas are spot on :o)
February 4th, 2011
@judifff Actually, research shows that Ross could change the site a great deal, and people would probably not leave. They might complain about how they liked the old layout better, and beg him to put it back the way it was, but after a couple of weeks, they'd get used to the new layout and be happy again. We are fickle creatures when it comes to web design :) But I agree, @Scrivna I use the quick comments feature sometimes. On the other hand, having to click a picture before I can comment on it would not be any great hardship.
February 4th, 2011
How about when you click on friends or followers it would just show their last photo uploaded just to see a quick summary of last photo posted.
February 4th, 2011
@Scrivna I think it would be very helpful to add "Friend Uploads" to the Browse tab. Being able to scroll through the last 1,000 friend uploads would be very helful. Mix the thumbnail/author format of the Latest tab with the navigation options in the Browse by Day tab, and it would be perfect!!!

I use the quick comment boxes frequently - and I endorse the move for a grid/gallery view of all weekly images of those people whose projects I'm following. It's the primary reason I'm here - to see, be inspired by, and enjoy others' work - and while I check in at the dashboard often, it's sometimes laborious (inasmuch as it can be ...) to scroll and scroll and scroll, hoping I don't overlook anyone or anything.
February 4th, 2011
And FTR, you could change this site A LOT, and as long as I could continue being exposed to all this marvelous discussion and imagery, I sure wouldn't leave! It's great!
February 4th, 2011
@Scrivna Perhaps have the thumbnails showing in a grid, separated by the date (so a new grid for each day), and in chronological order. Then, when you put your mouse over it it tells you who posted it.
February 4th, 2011
And further to @vikdaddy , when you hover the latest thumb of each person a little jquery-powered box could appear and load their 5 most recent ones or something, in a nice little horizontal fashion, so you can check how many you've not seen (up to 7, obvs). Maybes.
February 4th, 2011
@eyebrows A bit much, perhaps? Simplicity is the key methinks.
February 4th, 2011
I like the grid idea but think it should expand, if you put the cursor over it, on the screen full size with the title and an option to view/post comments.

Hope at the end, there is something like one of the suggestions from here. Thanks all your ideas are brilliant!
