Andrea, Copyright is implied on anything you creare and nobody can take that away (without a contract). If you want to watermark an image most free image editing apps can do that for you.
If you want to copyright your work, you can electronically register them at the Electronic Copyright Office of the federal government. There is a charge, but you can upload many images for one price within the time limit given by the goverment office.
I use this when I share pictures or sell them in a digital format.
