Hiya, I was just wondering, does anyone here sell their pictures?
It's just that I have had a lot of people commenting on my pictures and quite a few have said I should sell them.
And as a 16 year old girl, I wouldn't mind a bit of spare change!
So basically I guess I'm just asking, do you think it's worth trying to sell them and if so, how would I go about doing this?
Thanks! :]
Naomi,
I so sell quite a few images, many of them through galleries or art shows.
I would recommend getting involved with your local art community.
It will get your work out there and bring credibility to your work (hence you can ask for more spare change).
Pricing is always a tough one!
You have to consider what your photo is going to be used for (hanging on the wall, magazines, website, etc) and base the price on that.
Prices for the same photo can also vary depending on where you are selling it (ie: gallery, the people looking to buy your work, etc.)
Even after doing this for 10 years, I still have a hard time with pricing, but once set, I stick to the price.
Thanks everyone! Yeah I hadn't really thought about the pricing thing, I do need to think about that!
I've been asking around and people have suggested that I use Wix or BT to make a website although on first glance, wix looks best.
I might give this ago but really should not start it before the end of my exams!
I've sold some photos through Bigstock photos where you upload photos for them to sell. Shutterstock is also good if your photos are salable. This is an easy way of selling them as you don't have to go out and market them yourself. However, each sale is quite low (50 cents - $2) so you need volume sales to get the money in.
Perhaps you could try this as well as the local art galleries.
