We stayed at a timeshare overlooking the fields a few years ago. That was before I became photo-obsessive. I think it's time to pay another visit.
We're heading to Orange County Great Park tomorrow for Picture The Park, a family art event directed toward 5 - 12 year-olds. http://www.ocgp.org/2010/03/picture-the-park. Maybe we'll go up in the balloon, too. :)
I worked right next to the fields and got married at the hotel above the fields, a place well worth checking out. If anyone wants to meet up for a shoot, let me know.
Travis I'm going May 2nd to take pic's of my niece for her senior pics..........Maybe we can turn it into a shoot.... I'm good at taking nature shots but when it comes to people I need a lot of practice...
We visited there some years ago when we had relatives in the area. Seeing all those masses of color was quite dramatic. It was right near Legoland as I recall.
ah - I think we were overlooking them when we took sunset photos near Legoland in January - I was wondering what on earth would be planted in such a place and now I know! It was all just low lying green stuff in January. Sunsets right now must look spectacular there!
It is really a cool place to visit... They lay the flowers out in rows based on color so you see alternating stripes of color...
I've been there a number of times and the ranunculus flower is somewhat similar in shape to a chrysanthemum but in a lot more colors :)
What's also nice about this place is that they have a place to buy fresh picked strawberries ... there is also a field nearby where you can go pick them yourself (Carlsbad Strawberry Company). For one price, they give you a bucket and you go out into the fields and pick the biggest ones you can find, fill up the bucket as tall as you can get it, and take it home with you! Yum!
don't you kind of have to have an airplane or an aerial photography set up to shoot this properly?? looks difficult...hmmmmmm...... let us know if there's a group date set up.
Christina mentioned above that she will be going May 2nd to The Flower Fields... maybe she can spearhead a photo meet there.... Christina, what do you say?
Alex I'm totally down, for May 2nd just know that I have to take senior pics of my nieces and my folks are now thinking about doing family pics also...... If anyone knows how to shoot people since I mostly do nature shots, I would be happy for the help :-)
Thank you for sharing
