First things first - @lislee75 the original thread LOL Cats Unite! is good - I love the photos and cats can be real cute and there are some really good ones there etc. Honestly. I'm not trying to take the Michael.
That said, I am totally baffled as to why all cat owners take so many photos of their cats! Dog owners don't - well, we all like taking photos of our pets, but people who have cats seem to do it so much more than anyone who has any other animal.
Why???
Cats are cute, yeah. But so are dogs, fish, budgies, tortoises, gerbils, snakes, etc. Hrm. What makes cats so much better to take photos of? I mean, y'all have so many! Some people even get so obsessed that they sneak around trying to get photos of other people's cats - the neighbour's cat, the stray cat on the street, any cats really. Someone really should try to get a photo of Macavity; I'm sure that somewhere, in amongst all that crazy feline fotographal matter, there is a shot of him. He is the Mystery Cat, after all.
So I am going to post a lot of pictures of my dog, in attempt to even things out very slightly. Please feel free to explain why you all love cats so much, or post photos of your other pets, or spam me up with cat photos - whatever. All feedback greatly appreciated.
(But please, none of the "I can haz cheezburger" or whatever - I am sure that cats are more intelligent than that, and can probably spell better than half of the people who write that stuff.)
My dog: she is called Blue. She is a border collie, and she is .. well, blue. (also known as grey.)
Obviously, those were all taken on the same day. So, just for some variety (and because I love it so much) here's a photo of Blue and Greg. It was my 5th ever photo, and was suggested by Mr @eyebrows.
I'm sure you can all show me up with far better photos of dogs and things - if you can, please do. Remember, I really only photograph rubber ducks; anything that actually moves and breathes is way out of my comfort zone.
I have 5 cats so they tend to be the subject when it comes to my pets but I LOVE dogs just the one I have stays at my parents (way more land there for her) but my rabbit gets a lot of photo ops! =D
Not a great quality photo but the moment was funny especially as the night before our cat Rory had chased our dog Dash into the front room where he then jumped onto my hubby's lap shaking and terrified. lol.
I've got a few pet shots...I don't like taking pictures of cats as much, so I'm with you on the "what's the big deal". I absolutely love dogs, but don't have any to photograph :(
However, here are the pictures I do have:
This is Honey-
In my defense for starting the lol cats thread: I was a) having a rotten day (co-worker passed away), b) kids ticked me off, and c) had just snapped a couple funny kitty photos and needed some smiles. Which that thread brought me quite a few. I love dogs, and I'd love to have one or two, but my husband is not for it so I have no cute puppy pics other than my hairdressers dog who I adore! So here's my addition to the thread. I almost started a dog thread so non-cat folks could join in, so I'm glad you started this thread, it made me smile too!
@lislee75 You don't need a defence for starting it - it was a good idea, because so many people take photos of their cats, it's nice to share them! I just wondered why cat owners are *so* obsessed with their cats - when people who own other animals don't seem to be half as crazy about them.
Also, I wanted to make the 'unite' / 'untie' joke. :P

That's it, I promise! :)
I love these threads you start Kate. Too funny. I always photograph my cats because Brutus has become very camera shy, but here's one of him taken on my first day alone with him after he joined our family. It was awesome.
@petersonsheri Oh man.. I like starting threads - it's fun. Every so often I think "Hrm, haven't started a discussion thread in a while, what shall I say?" and then ramble for hours about almost nothing .. most people don't seem to mind though so I'll keep doing it. :)
@katiegc24 I thinkl like with camera/s you are a nikon/canon, and I think it is the same with cats and dogs, or like me woiuld love both but my sons allergies and my husband is not a cat person!!! anyway I think dogs want to pleae us and cats please themselves. here is Cookie.
as to why there are more cat photos?... generally speaking, they sit still longer, are a bit easier to take care of, and people find them cute.. of course that is not always the case.

I don't take a lot of pictures of my cat, Cassie. Part of it is because she thinks the wrist strap on my camera is one of her toys; part because she tends to stay in the same few places a lot, and I have pictures of her in those places already. This was a "win", though - I put her on the chair and pointed the camera at her in order to get the photo before she decided to jump off the chair!
I've enjoyed the many photos of other 365ers' cats, dogs and other pets!
Does this count? It belongs to the canine family, lives in my shed, and is the most popular living thing on my property at the moment, well and his wife and babies, too!

As for the cats thing... it's usually when I haven't taken a photo for the day and they're there waiting :)
It's also hilarious when you get pictures like this:
Not a great quality photo but the moment was funny especially as the night before our cat Rory had chased our dog Dash into the front room where he then jumped onto my hubby's lap shaking and terrified. lol.
This is a photo of daddy gerbil - Tarquin. He has four sons who also live with us.
This is Lucy gerbil (yes, he is a boy) playing at being Gerbilzilla.
This gerbil is unrelated to the other five. His name is Max.
And this is one of my Roborovski Hamsters - Hamish.
And this is Harvey.
And of course the one and only Bayleigh Boo :)
However, here are the pictures I do have:

@lislee75 Didn't I say no LOLcat speak? ¬_¬ every time you write like that, somewhere, an English teacher dies. Just sayin'.
