The newspaper is talking about ME?

May 23rd, 2011
Ok, so, everybody looks up to me cause I'm a "professional" photographer. That actually doesn't mean I'm better than anyone cause I see loads of amazing photos on here all the time from you guys.

Just because I'm a professional, however, doesn't mean I don't still get excited when I see myself in the local newspaper. The Roanoke Times in Roanoke, Virginia published a littler blurb about me because of a photography seminar I am teaching this coming week.

This is kinda awesome. I like it. And if anyone on 365 is close by Abingdon, Virginia, you should come by Thursday for the seminar! Ya'll know how I love to teach.

Oh yeah...and geckos are kinda weird. I mean...their scaley and green and kinda tiny. They're like miniature Komodo dragons, just not as cool. Like a runt Komodo dragon. Or a Rumodo dragon. Yeah, that's what geckos are. Rumodos.

May 23rd, 2011
Congrats!!

Also, geckos are cool!! Not all are green either!!!
May 23rd, 2011
@sdpace My shizz just went through the roof. Hells yeah.
May 23rd, 2011
@kerristephens Geckos are tiny, and although they can run fast it's cause everyone else is trying to either eat them or step on them so really they only move fast cause they are too weak to defend themselves.

I'm hijacking my own thread bragging about myself. Lame.
May 23rd, 2011
:) Congrats on the article ..
May 23rd, 2011
@jasonbarnette But they also have to be fast so they can eat other critters.
May 23rd, 2011
Well done, you are a brilliant photographer. I am envious of the class!
May 23rd, 2011
Yay Congrats!
May 23rd, 2011
Congrats, unfourtunately I will be detained on the other side of the country, doing things that are nowhere near as interesting!
May 23rd, 2011
Well done, wish I could go but it's just too far away :-)
May 23rd, 2011
nevertheless congrats :)
May 23rd, 2011
congrats Jason! If I lived closer I would definitely be there, but Virginia is about 10 hours for me. Good luck Thursday- I know you'll do brilliantly
May 23rd, 2011
Congratulations. And I'm envious of your students.
May 23rd, 2011
@jasonbarnette congratulations :) green with envy @ your students....not cos I'm a gecko.
May 23rd, 2011
Congrats on the exposure, hope you got paid suitably. And not everybody looks up to you.
May 23rd, 2011
@jasonbarnette
"Ok, so, everybody looks up to me cause I'm a "professional" photographer"

While am very happy for you to be doing stuff you like, I do hope your opening line was tongue in cheek.
May 23rd, 2011
Ok congrats on the write-up but remember in advertising 101 when you were taught treat every word as if it would cost $1,000 to print... with that in mind the title of the photo in the story is a touch 20 words too long... perhaps the classic Building with Lights #X (where x is whatever number this is in the series)...
May 23rd, 2011
@jasonbarnette Congrats! Man I would love to be there but Newport News is oh so close but NOT close enough. Have a great time and teach lots of cool stuff. I will be dreaming that I could go.
May 23rd, 2011
@blightygal As in...you hope I was being sarcastic? Not too much, really.

@icywarm Very true...but that wasn't an example of advertising photography, that was an example of editorial photography. It was just a standard photojournalism caption, although @katiegc24 keeps trying to get me to try something new.

@breeding_photos I'll make you the same offer I've made tons of other people on 365, some of whom I think are actually taking me up on it. If you have the means, ability, and time to coordinate a facility like a large room and can create an event for me to come there and speak, I would be happy to teach a photography seminar. It isn't something I do full-time, but I would like to do it more often. Just a thought...
May 23rd, 2011
Congrats Jason. I would be there if I lived in that area.
May 23rd, 2011
@jasonbarnette No, not sarcasm, more irony. But I hear thats more of a British thing?
-And so is being humble!

May 23rd, 2011
Dang it.

Geckos are the most awesome critters in existence.

Look at that. How can you not fall in love with it?

My apologies, Jason. You have been replaced by a gecko. Now how do you feel?? :P

ALSO: Yes, you need to beat the egg story. Which was kinda epic. :D

I SPAMMED UP YOUR THREAD AGAIN LOLOLOLOL

Sorry.
May 24th, 2011
@jasonbarnette I'll give that some thought and get back to you.
