protect images from being copied

I'm new to 365 and still learning the features but haven't found a way to protect my images from being copied. Any suggestions? Many thanks! Lindi

it is my understanding that basically anything you put up on the internet can be copied. some people use watermarks and such as a determent. But if someone wants the image, they can find a way to get it. . .

@stepheesue gots the smarts.

There's no way to protect anything on the internet, that's why it's the internet.

Yeah internet!

@eyebrows 3 cheers for internet theft.

only things you can do are reduce the pixel size of your picture, stick a signature on it or put large watermark across it, but this still will not prevent anyone from stealing but more so just prove the work is yours. (assuming you can provide the original if it were to ever reach a court for example) unlikely though

While a watermark can be used, I am not a fan because they can be cropped out or take away from the photo.

How about an author tag? Does that get removed somehow?

I found a site that allows me to add a watermark for free. I think I will remove my photos, add the watermark, then reload images. Not that anyone would desire to copy my photos but just as a precaution.....Thanks to all that responded!

What is this site? I am interested in using the watermarks from that site.

@lindib But if you remove everything you will lose the comments with them, that would be sad...
I'm also interested in that watermark-site.

@ Kathryn and Geertje: the site I found is www.picmarkr.com. Seems to be legit....I hate that I lost the wonderful comments from everyone but I feel better knowing my pictures are somewhat "safer." I'm about to begin uploading new images....Hugs to all! Lindi

Someday I will improve enough that this will be a concern. Right now I'm not worried that anyone would want to copy. Sometimes being a beginner has its priviledges. :D

@brumbe to remove a water mark from a photo is a much more serious crime than using the photo... and a crime that actually gets results... the key is to water mark with style!

@icywarm that is good info to know...and I think the key words are with style! ATM I very much doubt anybody's going to be lifting mine. lol.

Im currently putting Photos on a site I set up a few years back when I was doing A Level Photography, Just changed the name to Lisas Photography instead of Lisas A Level Photography and I was wondering about Watermarking, I have Photoshop but not sure how to do it there but then again my Photos arent worth stealing they arent that good .
May 25th, 2011
@icywarm I did not know it was more of a crime, I just assumed people were just cropping it out of the photo.

But I have seen people put the cutsey watermarks in the middle of the photo. Just not my style.

@brumbe agree, I find it very distracting and detracting.
