Really fascinating how this photographer found out about the photos. Thanks for sharing this.

This makes me so angry! (and I don't anger easily). I think this is just awful. This man's photo is his creative property. It's one thing to use someone's image just to share and not for personal monetary gain. But anyone making money from his art without his permission or without paying him should be sued. *sigh.*

Also, to use his image in association with a political statement that he may not agree with? Without his permission?? I call that libel...not to mention his personal safety is at risk with the government of Iran. Yikes.

And then that last thing about someone else getting credit for his image in a published book??? Makes me want to take all my photos off the internet! >:(

Wow. That was interesting. I couldn't imagine how odd that would be to see your picture and your face all over the place. I can't believe people have been making money off of it without paying him or giving him any credit! That would make me so mad. The book thing too, he deserves credit and control of that image.

@allegresse --- I think we all can agree that he should get all the credit and all the money paid to everyone that benefited financially from his pictures but the reality is it won't happen.

All you need do is look at those on fb. I can't tell you how many times I've seen people copy quotes as well as pictures to repost without so much as a word that it's not theirs. Only when questioned do they admit it. Some of these people should really know better because we all went to school and understand plagerism. Maybe because it's on the internet people aren't held responsible. I don't know but if I read a quote, put the quote in quotes and name the source. If it's not your picture credit your source. How complicated is that?

This man's story is what people do with information. We borrow it, repackage it sometimes, and then claim it as our own. It's wrong but this man's works have been used by so many there isn't any way to stop it now. People, smart people, know it's wrong but have done this anyway.

I have shown this video to all of my art students and it really seemed to make sense to them. They are starting to think more before just taking others' images for the sake of their own art.
