Hello followers! Greetings from Vietnam! Some of you (probably no one, but even so) may have noticed that I've not been so good with keeping up to date with 365 recently and so I wanted to post to give a little update on my Vietnamese adventure and to explain my absence really.
The GOOD news is... I did a crazy thing in Ho Chi Minh City a few days ago and I BOUGHT A MOTORBIKE!!! So, I decided to go against the touristy grain of taking the bus or the train everywhere, where you might look out of the window a bit but you probably just sleep or read your book, and ride a motorbike the length of the country instead, in order to feel like I am really SEEING the country. After meeting an amazing enthusiastic girl from Finland we both bought bikes and began the epic 2000km trek from the south (HCMC) to the north (Hanoi) of Vietnam. So far we have driven 250km to the seaside town of Mui Ne, and then two days ago we picked up an American guy and drove a further 250km to Nha Trang. It's incredible, tiring, frustrating, fascinating, exhilerating and hilarious, and it is the best way to see the country (even if I do now have a numb bum somewhat!)
However...
The BAD news is... my camera is broken :( :( :( so, while I'm seeing amazing things, meeting amazing people and having the time of my life doing a road trip up a beautiful country, I can't capture any of it :( So, Project 365 is having to take a bit of a back seat at the moment, which is gutting, as there are photo opportunities literally every few hundred metres.
I'm hoping to get it fixed at the next place I stop, but for now I'm going to have to use fillers for the last couple of days.
Once again a huge thank you to everyone who still takes the time to look and comment on my pictures, I appreciate it so much! And I'm sorry that I can't look through all yours. I would really love to, but there just isn't time.
I hope you're all well and have had a great May :o)
Of course I noticed the lack of news from Vietnam, I always enjoyed your pictures so much! I figured you just had to much fun to keep going on the internet ;). I'm so sorry to hear your camera broke, especially as that means no new photos - bohooo! I really hope you get it fixed as soon as possible but maybe this enables you to just live in the moment and enjoy every bit of your crazy roadtrip instead of having to think about photography opportunities all the time ;). Have fun, Martha!
Sounds exciting and a great adventure, like the ones I always dream of! I am so sorry for the camera (especially as you send us so many great images from the places that your are visiting). I hope that you get it fixed soon.
Sad news about the camera, at least it sounds like you're having a ball, so that should help make up for it!
Take care on that motorbike, and make up for lost time once the camera is fixed!!
it would kill me not to have my camera with me, but I've also had to learn to accept reality. your reality is that you don't have it so maybe you're supposed to enjoy the trip in a way that you wouldn't normally. sounds like you're doing just that. take care and good luck.
awww so sorry for you and your camera....but it sounds like its just a marvellous place to be...and as @clarissajohal FaerieMoon says, all those photos will be in your head :)
Enjoy it and take care!
Ian
