I was just wondering how many of you read what a person writes under their photo? I do and I am asking because lately mine have been long, emotional and forthcoming. I don't usually write stuff but I wanted people to understand my photos lately. So do you read or do you engage in the photo more?
I always read it, but often only respond to the photograph itself. I do like it when people write about the image, or about any other thing that seems relevant.
I guess it depends on how it is written, honestly. If it is just one looooong paragraph. My brain just hurts. I like short paragraphs but there can be mutiple short paragraphs.
I love reading the stories. That's how I feel I get "to know" those that I follow, and have bits of conversation. And sometimes it's just nice to know a bit about the image especially if it's a place I don't know, etc
I *almost* always read it. The only time i don't is when I am running short on time. I still try to skim the story though and get the gist of it. I definitely enjoy reading the stories behind the photographs, or whatever the photog wants to say. Keep them up!
This has been an inspirational and delightful site for both the quality of the images and the writing that accompanies them. I can always tell when someone just writes a one-word comment and it might not apply to what I've said about the photo. I appreciate the interaction with those who view what I've posted.
That said, I think it's about the pairing of photo and caption. When I stop by, I read it all!
I always read it too - 365 is a social network for me, so reading the comments and stories helps me to keep up with what people are doing or thinking, so I can feel like I have friends here, and not just 'followers'.
I read what is written. I like to know what the photo is of and why it was taken. It's also nice for me to be able to tell the viewer (if there is one!) about my photo and maybe some of the history behind it. For example, I took a photo of Boscobel House, and I wrote about its connections to Charles II and the Royal Oak he hid in. Then I will say if anything particularly exciting happened that day that I think people will like to know, such as finishing exams etc. I try not to make it too long, and I don't want to make it whiney. But I think its nice if other people write something - I don't like looking at a photo with no name or description and thinking "well, what is it?"
Most of the time I do, if its very long....I won't as I just don't really have time, unless it someone I've been following for ages and have a keen interest in there photos. Short and sweet is the way forward for sure.
I always read, in fact if a photo doesn't have a caption, story or description I'll be less likely to follow that person, or carry on looking through their photos.
I like to know what the photo is, why it meant enough to be their picture for today and any other feelings or ideas or even technical stuff the poster wants to share. For me it's all part of this site, and getting to know the people you follow.
