Bye Bye Followers

July 23rd, 2011
I know this subject has been addressed before, however........ My followers seem to be disappearing by the hour! I am aware that I haven't been as active on 365 as previously due mainly to work but the number of followers who seem to have vanished seems disproportionate. Is this a glitch or is it still happening to other people? Just in case it isn't I really really do appreciate those who follow, comment on and Fav my photos. Each and every one!

I lost at least 30, maybe more and I hate it! It makes me feel like I'm getting worse even though I know it's just the culling. I'm still following ya ;).

me too : / I didn't really pay attention to my number of followers until i heard that somebody else lost a bunch, and i have seen my number go down too... but you can't do it for the followers! im still watching :) I hate that I feel like I want to please people while I am taking pictures sometimes. Or a lot of the time. Shouldn't be about that.

me too....lost about 50

I've lost a bundle and viewings are down, however I'm happy to have those quality followers that i still do - I'm still following you!

Weird huh? Glad it's not just me..... Don't do the project for the followers but I really find the comments and views help to keep me motivated. I have been so busy at work that I've considered giving up a couple of times and the feedback and lovely thoughts have helped to make sure that I carry on.

I'm still following you. I don't really check how many I've got so not sure if I've lost any recently but then I don't get much time for 365 atm. Working and studying take up a great deal of my time and I try really hard to keep up with everyone's posts but the more people you follow the longer it takes so if I haven't had any communication with some in ages I do tend to cull. It just gives me more time to comment on the people that are keeping up with my project so my home page isn't full of those I have less interest in :o)

@ruthyadams Ross was clearing out the inactive followers to keep costs of running the site down--it happened to everyone. A good time to become an ACE member if you can afford it.
I lost around 200, don't feel bad!

I too have had a drop off in number of views that my photos receive, not that they ever got that many but now single figure views aren't uncommon. If it was just inactive followers that were culled, you'd have thought, being inactive, that this wouldn't have reduced the number of views?

Another factor of course may just be that people are giving up on their 365. I know of a few that started back in January but have had to give up due to time commitments, typically. I don't think everyone appreciates the amount of effort required to keep taking half–decent photos day in and day out?

i don't know if i have lost any followers( i don't check the numbers) but i have noticed how quiet it is here just lately,i have had hardly any views or comments on some pics which surprised me because i thought they were quite good work, maybe i need to start finding some new people to draw into my web ;)

@ruthyadams I think many of you who have been here longer and had more followers were hit harder than folks like myself who are newer and relatively unknown. We have less followers, so it seems we lost less, but then, I see posts like the ones above and the math doesn't seem to add up. I see some folks on here with 100s, even 1000s of followers and I just don't know how they do it. I felt my list was managable at 25, but it has grown and I'm amazed at how long it takes me to go through all the photos. I'm not complaining- I love doing it, and I'm very loyal when it comes to things like that. But it certainly would be disheartening to lose so many in one fell swoop! On the other hand, if someone's on your list, but has been inactive for several months, are they really following you? I'd rather have 10 consistent and supportive people on my list than 100 occaisional commentators. That's just my opinion- for whatever it's worth. I'm still following you and also appreciate your comments on my photos too!

i guess i'm just self centered, never really worried about amount of followers. i figure if people like my images they will follow, if they get bored they will remove me. i started this for myself for fun, never worried about followers. i have often removed or added people based on images i have seen from them. *shrug* just my take on it.

i'm here Ruth---i'm still stalking you..:)

@jannaellen ha ha ha You're not the only one i lost 38 and losing more . but i don't mind at all because even before there are issues like this in 365 so i guess it's natural :) but it will never stop me from completing my 365project :)
Cheer Up . It's not you who is worse it's the system ha ha ha. sorry but this site i guess need upgrading and enhancement. just my suggestion and opinion. Thanks

this happen to me as well which made me sad. But i guess it makes sense, i have not really been on that much due to work.
July 23rd, 2011
yup mine has dropped by about 100, but i put that down to me being unable to post for over a month

@clarissajohal , I had no idea that being an ACE member helped with costs for running this site. (I thought it was for the cost of using Picnik). I think it is great of you to encourage others to join. This site is wonderful and if $20 will help support it, then it was $20 well spent!
July 23rd, 2011
As @clarissajohal says, Ross has been clearing out the inactive accounts. I lost over 100 but they are all people who haven't posted for a good while. Nothing to do with you and it will help make the site work better and keep Ross's costs down.
July 23rd, 2011
@paulaag Picnik is a completely separate cost (but totally worth it, in my opinion!) But yes, ACE memberships help with this site (: Glad you joined! Now you can start filling your other Albums, lol (and you thought taking a photo a day was hard!)
July 23rd, 2011
I've lost some too, but I think they are people who never left comments to my pics (at least I didn't noticed drops from my more active followers), so indeed, this is probably just a clearing of dead accounts.
July 24th, 2011
Lost over 100! But, yeah, it't ain't about that. Some folks have way more time to be active and thus can have many more followers, just shoot for yourself and have fun!
:-D
