When Persistance Pays Off

July 24th, 2011
We have had a ton of storms & I was so longing to capture some lightening. It is a lot of hurry up & wait but sometimes you get just the right shot! Here are my persistance photos...show me yours!

Lately it's been with shots of my daughter, who is 3, and about as unpredictable as a storm. hehe

@lolanae the middle one is most priceless!

@mikichelle I've tried and failed last summer - what setting did you use? We're heading into summer storm time so would love to trial it again.

I did a lightning picture as well, shot more than 300 shots and this was the one with success:

This required a lot of persistence... over 200 shots and probably about 25 that were usable :) Oh, and it was a workout, too (for her).

@mikichelle I also took some shots of lightning and I know how tough it is! Lots of waiting, shots of nothing, and if you're outside (like I was), lots of... wet lol. I don't have any uploaded on my 365, but I have one on my deviantART here: Lightning on the Lake ...not nearly as dramatic as your shots =D

This took me ages to get right and this is first attempt although I took millions of others that day none of them come out right at all.

I've since tried again and the shots I achieved were utterly useless. I shall be trying again soon though!!

I spent over half an hour blowing bubbles at daisies on the verge at the front of our house (to many odd looks from passers by). It didn't help that it was quite breezy so half the bubble blew away and the majority of others would pop on landing.
After posting the photo I was given the tip to spray teh flower with soapy water first.

I also got one at the same time landing on a dandelion

Gorgeous pictures all. @misschuff As far as the settings go it varied. I kept the aperature at or around 10 but fiddled with the ISO a tad. Usually kept it around 100 or 200 & set it on Bulb. I had it on a tripod & hit the shutter with my remote & just kept it open until I saw a good flash.
