It is very annoying to take a 'lovely' picture of a flower, bird, insect, etc., only to get home and discover that we hadn't seen the cigarette butt visible in the corner of the frame. I have started carrying a plastic grocery sack with me so I can help keep the parks I enjoy clean. It isn't our job as photographers, but for those of us who use the local parks as our venue, it works in our favor to help keep them cleaner. Do others do this?
An admirable thing for you to do. I wish people weren't so disrespecful of the world they share with all of us. The truth though is people are selfish. Things like this always make me think of going to a concert or a baseball game. There must be some unwritten law that says it's ok to throw garbage at your feet. Others need to walk through the space too. It's disgusting.
I rarely move anything when taking pictures because it forces me to look at the image closely. The photo meetup this weekend was one of those types of challenges. It wasn't garbage but the sun and the shopping center parking lot where the sand sculptures were located. ACK!!! The art although beautiful were competing with the background. Not unlike finding trash where you go. Sometimes we incorporate it and sometimes we have to find a better angle. Kudos to you for helping to keep your park clean for others to enjoy too. :-)
I wasn't looking for approval, so much as suggesting an idea. It isn't realistic for my photographs, but I always try and crop out cars and people and litter. They are part of the world I am trying to escape when I go out.
I have had to remove litter from areas that I wanted to photograph, coffee cups, water bottles...I boil when I see litter strewn about...but have half considered the idea of photgraphing it for various reasons...
I can certainly recall litter clean up moments but not for photographic reasons. It's not a habit though! I do collect y own garbage and also tell my boys not to throw their dirt on the ground. So I think I help you photographers a bit....
