This is just my opinion but I think when signing up for 365 there should be a space for you to fill in your location. I don't mean your address, but the town or city where you live. So many times I am looking at someone's pic and I want to know more about them and go to their profile and there is no location. Of course don't get me started on those that don't put anything at all in their profile. Is it too much to share just a bit about yourself. Are you in high school or are you retired? Are you in South Africa or Billings, Montana?
@rayswrld I agree and sometimes I wonder if I should edit mine which is a little long winded :) as to location all of my photo's are taken in Wisconsin around the North Fond du Lac and surrounding areas for now...I really need people to donate gas money for photog road trips lol
@vikdaddy@renelou@beautifulthing To clarify I am not saying to put down your address or a picture of your house. As an example, my profile says central New Jersey. I would think that is vague enough so as not to be "personal" information. Besides, you would be surprised what people can find out about you on the internet.
It does depend on how big the town you live in is - if it's too small, posting the town is going to identify you very, very easily, especially the shots I use
@rayswrld You put in your original post "Of course don't get me started on those that don't put anything at all in their profile. Is it too much to share just a bit about yourself." Why should I? You're missing the point; it's my choice. Why should it bother you?
I agree, I have actually considered putting this up as a discussion, it would be great if everyone would put their location in their profile as so often you wonder where there photos were taken :)
I think it's a good idea but I don't think it should be a compulsory thing for everyone to have to do. People should be able to share as much or as little of their info as they wish. :) And besides, people could always put in a fake location. xD
I totally agree with you, @rayswrld! My second paragraph describes what I really love about 365 Project. And for anyone who is interested in the sights and places in my photos, I very often post links to the attractions.
@rayswrld I see your point - but here's mine. My project is MY project. My profile is MY profile. I choose what I put in each of them. I don't have my name, etc., on there because I wanted one little corner of the Interwebs, to freely express myself and learn more, that wasn't linked or shared or in a circle or liked or on a news feed or a wall. I respect that you feel differently, but you should respect that people might have really good reasons for keeping their identities to themselves.
Totally agree with @rayswrld , I find it frustrating to not know where someone is from, especially when they have beautiful landscape shots! Just like armchair travel :)
@vikdaddy When I see a pic that I really like I am normally curious about where it is and who took the shot. Is the person a professional? What experience do they have? Young or old? And, yes, where they are.
@beautifulthing I think most people on this site would agree that it is a community, and being such people are curious about others who are here and sharing their pics which are part of themselves. You could have just as easily started a flickr page to have as your little corner on the Interwebs but you chose 365. You have only been on this site for one month so I hope you might see things differently before a year goes by. Look at other users pics. Follow others. Enjoy the community.
@rayswrld i think it's fascinating that you make the assumption that I'm not interested in community or enjoying 365 by simple virtue of the fact that I have chosen not to put a location on my profile or use my name on this site. In the time I have been here, which, granted, has been short, I've participated in discussions on threads, talked to people about their pictures, and taken part in and voted on challenges, among other things. I think that counts for a lot more than adding an ASL to my profile, but we'll have to agree to disagree on the matter, and leave it at that. The wonderful thing about this community is that it has room for us all and all of our varying opinions. :)

Just my two cents.
