Yesterday while in our back garden exploring my eldest son Callum found these tadpole like things in a huge unused flower pot, it's full of just junk from the garden like stones and some wood and is full up of water. I tried to get a photo but just don't have the right type of lens to get a decent shot (they are really really tiny) so today I took (a very poor) video of them. I was just wondering if anyone can tell from the terrible footage I took what they might be and what best to do with them. Oh and ignore the barking in the background it's just my crazy dog. Thank you for any information.
@sdpace I agree they are mosqutio larvae. You'll find them in most collections of water....sometimes i find them in the bird bath! They squiggle around when you disturb them and then hang from the water surface to breathe air through a tiny tube. They are quite harmless and provide food for fish. Good find!
@sdpace@tjramutkowski@Cherrill Thank you all. Thought it was too much to expect them to be something exciting like tadpoles. lol. And I knew 365 would be the big help it has been.
So what is the best thing to do with them? We don't have a pond or fish etc.
@Cherrill - *JD puts on tropical hat* - Malaria kills more people in developing nations then any other. Mosquitos are the carrier. :( But you are right in certain countries and in certain areas, and certain mosquitos, they are just another part of the ecosystem. Where I live in Australia, mozzies carry Dengue Fever, Ross River Virus and a few others... we are not fans.

The following website will give you details of where Malaria is present: http://www.nathnac.org/ds/map_world.aspx
I cannot help with their identification.
