Setting up a website.

June 17th, 2010
So, I'm free from exams and need something to do over summer, I'm planning on setting up a website to try and sell some of my photos, has anyone done anything like this before and have any tips to pass on?

I already have a website, but basically, how do you think it would be best to set it up? How do you stop people stealing your pictures? How do you price your pictures? How do you sell them? (order form...printing...posting etc...)

Any tips at all! As you can tell, I'm kind of clueless...my Dad knows a lot about IT though, so he can help me out quite a bit (:

Thank you!!!

To stop them from stealing, there are a number of things you could do:
- place a big watermark across them. Nothing hugely intrusive, but make it obvious enough that it's yours.
- when they're browsing your images, don't allow them access to a resolution any bigger than, say, 800x600.
- you could use a javascript code to stop people right-clicking on your images, but if they're savvy enough they'll know the ways to get around that.
