Tripod Help!!!

I have my first job today i am taking a Christmas card picture for my friends family. there are four of them and it is going to be on the beach and i am wondering whether or not to use a tripod any ideas????

if its daylight on the beach, i'd assume youve got enough light for the tripod to not really make a difference. I'd go without but thats hardly a surprise since I think i've only ever used a tripod once.

Unless of course you need to use flash to kill ambient and dont have a helper :)

Tripods help keep your horizon level. If it is a seascape I recommend a tripod. There is nothing worse than getting the perfect smiles and then realizing your horizon is slanted. Then also if your models can hold very still you can also get longer exposures to make water and clouds move and flow. Hope this helps and no matter what have fun.

I agree with @nikkers - take everything you have (kitchen sink included). You don't have to use it all!

Def take the tripod, it has saved my butt more than once when I thought I didn't need it. If nothing else set it up and hang your camera bag from it while you shoot, will keep the sand out of your equipment.

Tripod--YES! While hand holding the camera allows for a certain amount of free-shooting, the tripod for setup shots can really make a difference in sharpness. Plus, with a tripod if for instance someone's smile (or whatever) is "off" in one shot which is otherwise perfect, using a tripod makes it super easy to edit in a good smile from another shot. Better safe than sorry at least!
