And now for the Artist Challenge #41 - William-Adolphe Bouguereau

The challenge is to take a photograph recreating one of Bouguereau's paintings, or to photograph something in the style that is reminiscent of his work, or to take a concept of one of his paintings and make it your own. Bougureau is my favorite artist.

William-Adolphe Bouguereau (November 30, 1825 - August 19, 1905) was a French academic painter. Bouguereau was a staunch traditionalist whose realistic genre paintings and mythological themes were modern interpretations of Classical subjects with a heavy emphasis on the female human body. Although he created an idealized world, his almost photo-realistic style was popular with rich art patrons. He was very famous in his time but today his work receives relatively little attention compared to the popularity of the Impressionists.

These are some examples of his work:

Glad to hear you enjoyed the challenge. It doesn't look like many people are going to participate.

Oh I really wanted to do this. I have some beautiful young models I could use but I will be gone over the weekend. I am hoping I will be able to sneak in a pic Saturday morning and download it Sunday night. Like Summerfield they will not be naked. Although their little toddler brother likes to take off his clothes and run around the house all natural - but I won't take any pictures of that lol.

How disappointing more people are not participating.

@denisedaly - the challenge coincided with three or four other challenges so it didn't garner much attention.

sorry, it took me a while to shoot my entry as it was quite a busy week. i would guess that more entries will be posted as it is the weekend.
