Hello everyone! It's time for technique challenge #5 - The Art of Long Exposure.
Ready for some fun, creativity and perhaps to learn something new? So what is a technique challenge? The host challenger selects a specific “technique” to try. It may be brand new for some, or just a challenge to be creative for others. Techniques may include high/low key, macro, portraits, landscapes, abstracts, the possibilities are endless. It could even be specific techniques in processing. The host will select a technique along with some links and examples. Constructive & kind feedback is encouraged. Feel free to share tips, suggestions or how you were able to get the terrific photo you did. Posting your photo on this thread is encouraged but not required. The challenges will last about 7 days.
To post a photo on this thread:
1) Go to your page that has the photo you would like to post.
2) Find the code located toward the bottom right side of your page. The code is on the right side of the word "share". Copy that code and paste it in this thread.
All photos must be taken within the challenge dates. Enter as many as you would like. Voting will last about 3 days. The winner will host a new challenge (or gets someone else to host it).
This week’s technique challenge is classic LONG EXPOSURE photography. Show the movement, paint with light, blur the background, turn the night into day, play with the strobe light... the possibilities are endless. Use your creativity to show what you can do with long exposure!
TAG your photos “technique5". The challenge starts today, Thursday May 23rd and ends Thursday May 30th midnight (UTC/GMT +3 hours). Enter as many photos as you like. Voting will last about 3 days, and will take place May 31st - June 2nd. The winner will host a new challenge, or invite someone else to host it.
Sounds like a fun challenge!!! The creativity is endless! @michaelelliott Oh I can't wait to see what you come up with for this since this is one of your signatures!
Excited!! Been wanting to try a few ideas I have had for long exposure and haven't had the chance to. This will definitely give me some extra motivation! Great pick!!
@pandora@fearghal@gazbadger Thanks for amazing entries! I was sure there's lot of people not aware of this competition. I guess I have to promote it more loud during last three days.
@sjouk Yes, this photo suits perfectly to this challenge :). I would say the only rule is that effect must not be made by post processing - everything else counts, if there's only long exposure involved. And here it is - this effect wouldn't be visible with shorted exposure time. And on the other hand, the effect would look different with longer exposure time.
So yes, this counts indeed :) This is very good example of creative use of long exposure!
Something snapped more "for fun" than anything, as I got near home
It's meant to be paired with my other photo of today, whining about the "Summer" weather.
@sjouk@Cheesebiscuit@pandora@kld63012 Good work all of you! Although I like the motion of zoom, wind and water a lot, fire is still my favourite with all those lovely tones!
I didn't think I would have a chance to do something for this challenge but last night I was out after sunset and got this shot. My first successful light trails. Could have used a few more cars.
The topic is very wide and possibilities are endless, so use your creativity and have fun!
But I want more!! There's only three and half days left this challenge! ;D At least @abhijit @sjouk @fearghal @abirkill @thenortherner @nathans25thyear @gazbadger @pandora, it seems that you already have something just to be tagged with "technique5" ;D
So yes, this counts indeed :) This is very good example of creative use of long exposure!
Keep up the good work, there's still couple of days left!
@lewy Lovely soft water, traditional long exposure from waves!
Good work, both of you!
It's meant to be paired with my other photo of today, whining about the "Summer" weather.
My second attempt at long exposure!
Couldn't resist of doing my own long exposure to promote the ongoing challenge ;) Of course this is not counted to the challenge.
