Hi everyone. Massive thanks to everyone who voted for my Bar 43 shot of Dubai. I am incredibly honoured and chuffed to bits as it was my first proper attempt at a long exposure night shot and I was thrilled to be picked as the winner. Well done to the other finalists too. Your shots were amazing.
This time round I have decided to follow on from the Blue Hour to a more sinister hour....Ghost Hour! This involves using long exposure shots to capture ghostly images of yourself or others.
How to take pictures of ghosts with your camera.....
"Use Manual mode with an aperture of F20 and below (depending on the light conditions, daylight F20 below, evening/morning light F15 and below and midnight/pitch black F8.0 and below,
Aim for a long shutter speed so F8.0-20 and below will allow a long shutter speed such as 10'' (10 seconds) or longer which is an ideal amount of time to get the shot"
This young chap does a good job of explaining the basics in his video.
If in need of a bit of inspiration google "ghost photography long exposure" for a few ideas to get you started.

I hope this counts. I did as you suggested and searched google and came across this link: http://laughingsquid.com/1231-spectacular-light-paintings-of-a-ghostly-human-figure/ .
Technically, the set up is the same as you describe : a long exposure with movement of the subject to create transparency. On creating the "man" I was moving to the point where I have become completely transparent.
@adambralston I'd say that is perfect for the challenge Adam. Now, if you can get yourself up in a tree with your ' man' I will be mightily impressed! Good luck
Well, here is my first attempt. It's a daylight shot so not as spooky as I'd hoped but still I think a little ghostly...hope to get a night version out later.
Arrgh, I seem to have become a tad obsessed with this. Here is one done at night. In order to be seen at all I had to introduce a small LED light on a post off to the side. If I were doing it again I think I would not wear white as it reflects too much light, in comparison to the face and skin.
@myhrhelper Hi Kathy. Apologies. I have just moved countries (staying in a hotel) and have only had my phone. Getting a laptop tonight so will select the finalists!

Well, if it isn't acceptable, let me know.
