Not sure if we need another umteenth challenge but I'll toss this out to the community to see if there is interest.
As Single Awareness Day / Valentines Day is fast approaching, I thought it might be fun to create images that celebrate these two themes. Whether it be art images, landscape (kinda curious how one would relate landscape to the themes) or still life or couple/engagement like images, as long as the image fits in one of the two categories.
The extra fun is that we can have a competition between the best of the two themes.
Not sure if we should set it up as two teams (Single Awareness Day photographers vs Valentine Day photographers) or allow anyone to submit for both themes... Up for suggestions. If we have two teams, each team can vote for the best of the other team's image. The winner of the final showdown image can be done by the whole community.
There are 6 players so far (everyone is welcome to join at any time). Going to select the team based on who responded to the thread first and round-robin approach.
For the Single Awareness Day team (we will use the term SD as SAD sounds.... well sad), we have @davidtom, @cindyloo, aikiuser )
So produce any type of image (landscape, portrait, still life) that would fit your theme. It could look commercial (like an ad) or artsy. Be creative and have fun.
Post it here on the discussion thread and tag it with either SD2015 (single awareness) or VD2015 (valentine day). Multiple entries are allowed.
Challenge ends on Feb 12. I'll try to have a quick voting round for Feb 13 for the best of each category and then submit the the two best to the community for final judging on the 14th.
Note: Anyone that wants to join in can. You just have to post your interest in joining in on the thread and the first person that joins in will be part of the SD team. The next person that post interest will be on the VD team and the SD and VD etc, etc..
The goal is to create images that celebrate single awareness day (SD) or valentine day (VD). My two images above are portrait commercial images that celebrate being single. They don't have to be portraits. They can be still life or landscape or any genre of photography.
Creating images that celebrate VD is easier to do as there is a vast amount of images that you can find to inspire you. SD is more challenging.
However, if you want to join VD, feel free to do so. The next person that signs up should be on the SD side.

I just tagged today's picture as I think it already quite fits :)
(I know the girl btw and she has a boyfriend, but if he's not here she'll go as single haha... I'll try to find a better pic the next days!)
@davidtom This is my first try! The colorful bears have my and my husband's birthday on them. It's a bit chanllenging to look for good shots when it is -1F outside, lol.
Hi All! I know I'm not officially on a team, but I saw this sign and instantly thought of the Single Awareness Day team. Hope you don't mind if I enter it!
@davidtom Uh-oh!! Somehow I missed that I got put in a team. MY APOLOGIES!!! Life is crazy busy right now so I've not even been posting new images this past week or so. Gah!!
Need a few more participants. Maybe even just one more and it can be 3vs3.
Game on then....

BOOM!!!
Can I be on the VD team? I don't exactly get the SD team's goal.

Okay, thank you for explaining. I think I'd still like to be on the VD team, though. I'm looking around and already finding some great shots!
From when to when should we submit?

And welcome to the challenge. GO Single Awareness.... (Just don't tell my wife :-P )
Good catch... Corrected... Thanks

Nice one... Makes me think what a Single Awareness Day landscape image would look like... Something that express a solitude like emotion maybe...
Just a reminder that the contest is closing at the end of the day today...
Please decide which one is the best...
