A composite photograph is one that is made up of several photographs or pieces of photographs which have been merged or layered together. It can also include textures and effects that have been applied to the picture as well. Composite photography gives you a lot of room for creativity and ingenuity as you manufacture photos composed of elements that might not necessarily be found together in reality but somehow they seem completely at home with one another in the picture.
For our composite challenge here on 365 you must use one picture that is completely yours but you can blend in other images, such as stock images, if you so choose. Just keep in mind that should you use an image that is not yours it should be licensed as free to use for any purpose. Here are a couple of sites that have stock images:
There are a host of tutorials on YouTube on composite photography and on this site http://designrfix.com/resources/140-fantastic-photo-manipulation-tutorials-adobe-photoshop there are over 100 tutorials to give you some ideas on how to get started.
Thanks to Northy @northy for hosting the last Composite Challenge. I am honored you chose my photo as the winner of it! That leaves me with the task of choosing a theme for this round. Previous themes for this challenge were love, the moon, shoes, sandals and feet, fruits and vegetables, animals, big and small/huge and tiny, and place and space. After much thought and consideration I’ve decided upon “It’s Just My Imagination” because with composite photography there is no limit as to where your imagination can take you!
The challenge will run from July 11-29 (midnight EST). As mentioned before you must use at least one of your own pictures, but the rest is up to your imagination and creativity. Have fun and I’ll be looking forward to seeing what you come up with!
