Thanks for appreciating my image taken “from the road”. For the new challenge we have a special treat. Nils Karlson is a fellow member of the Film Shooters’ Collective. As an UNRELATED ASIDE, I encourage you to visit the FSC’s weekly “Journal” page. The work submitted from the world-over is breathtakingly out of the box. 365’s Kali (@kali66) has been selected for Journal feature. You can view the FSC Journals here:
Yes, all of Nils’ wonderful imagery is shot using film, but NO, that is not a requirement for the challenge.
Interpret this version of “on the road” as you wish. A sparse urban scene, an expansive landscape, a beautiful architectural detail, a pet portrait “on the road” or something else. Nils is a guidepost for the concept there are no hard and fast rules in photography.
Nils has a unique style, often using long exposures and pastel colors and motion and minimalism. He has been accepted for juried exhibitions including Revela T in Spain, and is represented by Thurmanovich Gallery, a prominent gallery in Europe. He just completed an artist-in-residence in Iceland.
A dog lover, Nils has been the featured in many published interviews including this one on Lomography:
Oh, thank you for putting such a delightful spin this this edition of the Scenes from the Road challenge!
I am going to keep my eyes peeled as I do the school bus route!
@walrus -- I laughed to myself as I read this challenge because while I was on the back of @domenicododaro 's motorcycle I wished I had a GoPro to take a photo of how it feels to see yourself riding in between cars and on the dotted lane divider line! Now THAT would have been my "on the road" literally taken!
