Dayna was the lucky winner from the Blue theme we voted on this week. Well done to her and her great photo Refreshing
I contacted Dayna, and she has chosen us the theme of Mid Air.
I’ve been thinking about it today, for next week’s theme how about: “mid air”, the point being to capture something or someone mid-air. This usually requires a fast shutter speed but not always if the photographer doesn’t want to freeze the action. The results can be very fun and very interesting! It’s also great practice for those who feel they aren’t using a fast enough shutter speed to get the sharpness they desire.
This is inspired by my own lifestyle portrait sessions, in which I mark the end of each session by asking (no, insisting) that one of my client’s jump for me as high as they can and I capture him, her or the group in mid-air. This is not limited to children, it’s most often adults, I have gotten some really amazing shots that way and surprisingly, no one has turned me down yet for this request (of course, my pregnant clients are exempt!).
-------------------------
Entry to this theme starts on Monday (17th January) and will accept entries until Sunday night (23:59 GMT 23rd Jan). 5 finalists will be chosen next week and we'll vote on the winner then.
Entries must have been taken and uploaded this week only! Entries outside of the date range will not be accepted in to the final 5.
@wendy There is a different theme each week, these are for fun, kudos and inspiration, your photos do not have to be based on the theme its a side line to your 365project.
congrats dayna. I voted for you as well. It was real fun trying to get mid air pics but after a while I did get tired of jumping, so I'll think I'll go with throwing balls.
@Scrivna ooohhh... this one's going to be fun. So much learning potential here. I love these challenges. They really make you reach. Loving the learning curve!!!
@lvmychunkalunka i have a standard sony cybershot, basic p&s BUT i find when trying to get pics of my kids on the trampoline if i have it set to it's continually taking pics while i hold the button down i can often get a clear pic of mid air action.
Might not work but it's an idea :)
Sorry not sure on all the 'technical' wording for those settings :)
Congrats Dayna! I can't wait to do this theme! I've done this thing before but have yet to take one I like. This will give me a reason to get rid of some energy and have some fun this week (starting school tomorrow XP)
@Scrivna I'm still trying to find my way around so it may be that everybody knows the answer to this question. Where do the finalists in the Theme competition get posted - I saw the finalists and voting page for the sillouettes but not for 'blue'? Thank you!
@Scrivna I've only been using this site for a few weeks (& loving it!) but so far I've only been lucky enough to find the weekly theme top five list to vote for once... could you please let me know where to find the mid-air top 5 finalists? thank you!
@loopy12 voting for this will start tomorrow, keep a look out in the discussion boards or follow us on Twitter / facebook and you'll see a message go out.
...by the way,I voted for Dayna`s phot, good to see it won!

@judith the blue theme has already had a winner. we are now working on mid air theme.
I think this will be last theme I am going to do for a while... I spend most of my time on the themes when I could be trying new things.
CONGRATS TO THE WINNER!
