Winner of WWYD182

June 28th, 2019
The winner of the WWYD182 challenge is this imaginative creation where some of the characters are escaping the mural and taking a life of their own. If you compare with the starting image, you can see how much meticulous work was required in order to achieve some of the details.

Congratulations to Shutterbug @shutterbug49, who will now be hosting WWYD183.

Thank you also to the other participants. This challenge requires a lot of personal work and investment, and I am glad that it has been possible for the whole community to watch and to appreciate all entries. Thank you also to all who took the time to look at the creations and to cast their preference votes.

@etienne Thanks to Etienne and to all who entered this challenge as well as to those who viewed the entries and voted. I thought the vote was hard. There were very creative entries. Etienne, I have NO idea how to host the next challenge. Are there directions?

@shutterbug49 Sure, I will gather some instructions and post them in this thread for you tomorrow.

In order to host a challenge, you need to intervene three times :

1. To launch the challenge
2. To launch the voting
3. To announce the winner

Each time, you have to do the following three steps :

a. Compose your text : you probably want to start from the text of a similar challenge and to modify it with the updated information. What most of us do is to work on the text off line first in Word (or equivalent), and then paste the final text in the post. However, you can also write it directly on line if you prefer.

b. In order to insert a picture from someone’s project into your text, you have to click on the curved arrow in a small box just on the right of the “Favorite” star icon under the picture and to copy the code from there into your text. The picture will automatically appear when you will actually put the post on line.

c. To start your post on line, go to “Discuss- Themes and Competition-New Topic” and then paste your text, or alternatively write it directly there. When it is ready, save it on line. Afterwards, you will still be able to edit the text if you are not happy with the way it appears on line, but you will not be able to edit the title of your post anymore.

So, practically speaking, for the WWYD challenge, you have first to select a starting image from your archive to propose as the basis for the challenge. Then post this image in one of your albums on your account. Then choose a start and an end date, as well as the updated tag for the challenge. You are now ready to go : a. compose your challenge kick off text, b. insert the starting image and c. put your post on line.

At the challenge end date, browse by tag to see the entries, select the finalists and decide the deadline for voting. You are now ready to go : a. compose your voting invite text, b. insert the finalist pictures and c. put your post on line.

Finally, at the end of the voting period, count the votes and then : a. compose your winner announcement text, b. insert the winning picture and c. put your post on line.

Do not hesitate if you have any further questions. All of us had to get through this at one time.
